Family walks 400 km for Narmada river side ritual

The family from Madhya Pradesh believes the COVID crisis can be overcome by the benevolence of river Narmada and decided to take up the journey.

Vadodra (Gujarat): A family from Madhya Pradesh walked 400 km from Gujarat's Vadodra to Mandleshwar to perform circumambulation around river Narmada. After reaching Mandleshwar they took rest at Narmada shelter for the night and offered ablution in the morning.

After performing the rituals, the family, including a five-year-old girl and two and a half years old son moved to their next destination.

Avneesh, the head of the family claims that also believes that the present Pandemic which has engulfed the entire world which can be tackled only by river Narmada. It is only with her benevolence we can overcome this crisis.

That is why he has come here along with his family walking for about 400 km to perform circumambulation around Mother Narmada.

Avneesh further added that his wife was saved by river Narmada when she was in the last month of her pregnancy.

Avneesh said that two years ago, he along with his family had gone to Raipur (Chhattisgarh) for a 40-day ritual when his son Shlok was about to be born. When he returned after completing the program, his wife started getting complications and after sonography was done it was revealed that her wife was expecting twins and one of the babies had died in the womb. The doctors had given up the hope of saving the mother and her child.

Avneesh added that he prayed to Narmada because of which both mother and the child were saved.

Janavneesh is a priest and astrologer by profession and an originally belongs to Rewa. He left Rewa at the age of 13, he came to the Shivbhadra Ashram in Dewar, Vadodara and started serving there.

Avneesh further added that he walks 20 to 25 km daily and his children also accompany him on every step.

The five-year-old daughter of the family, Surbhi is a staunch devotee of river Narmada. She has memorized verses of Ramayana and Bhagavad Gita. Surabhi is interested in narrating the stories of Shri Ram and Bhagwat by becoming a narrator. For this, she is being trained by narrator Archana Saraswati in Devere Ashram.
