Gujarat: In different parts of Ahmedabad, signboards of eminent personalities are unveiled by leaders, corporators and prominent personalities of the country. But when those signboards are neglected and disrespected, the honour for eminent persons is not maintained. Incidents of similar nature were seen in parts of eastern and western Ahemadabad. The negligence and poor condition of the signboards reflects the wary condition of the city.
In Ahemadabad, a road has been paved in the name of a pioneer near Navrang High School at Darpan crossroad. Similarly, a road from L D Engineering college to PRL has the signboard of Pannalal Patel. But it is hardly noticed by people. It is mostly used by college students to put up posters for advertisement purpose. The signboards are not maintained by the government and are neglected.
It has been observed that at many such places, children hang tires on these boards and play around. Most of the signboards are broken. Surprisingly, lakhs and lakhs if rupees are spent to build such signboards in Ahemdabad. But the lack of proper maintenance is a sign of disrespect for the renowned personalities who struggled throughout their life for a cause. The matter has not been looked into by Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation.
Roads, bridges, complexes of Ahmedabad are named after eminent persons from different fields who have done something special for the society. After the roads are ready, signboards are made in their names. But the names on the signboards are neglected and not properly maintained. These plates and boards are erected only for namesake but the government doesn't invest in their repair and maintenance.
But after the dedication, the names of the placards or boards are not maintained properly. It is clear that these plaques have been prepared only for their namesake because no one cares about these or no one comes to see their condition.
