The experts hailed the BJP government's initiatives for the Act East policy in which "Sankalpit Bharat Sashakt Bharat" have 14 more integrated check posts to constructed by 2024 to increase border trade with the neighbouring countries along the eastern border.

New Delhi: The experts have hailed the BJP government's initiatives for the Act East policy. The saffron brigade, in its manifesto "Sankalpit Bharat Sashakt Bharat", said that 14 more integrated check posts will be constructed by 2024 to increase border trade with the neighbouring countries along the eastern border.

While speaking to ETV Bharat, senior journalist and expert on north-east issues, Deepak Diwan said, "The 14 more integrated check posts will further strengthen the Act East policy as the north-east is a gateway for South East Asian countries and the local products made in northeastern states would definitely go to the South Asian market which in one or the other way will have a major impact."The BJP manifesto which was released on Monday stated that the party would complete building the six integrated check posts with another under-construction to facilitate easier trade and travel from the neighbouring countries.The BJP manifesto also speaks about easing the movement of goods and people further by constructing the integrated check posts. After completion of all the proposed check posts, all trade movement with Bangladesh, Nepal and Bhutan will be conducted through them.

In the past five years, the Modi-government has been trying to strengthen the Act East policy by boosting the overall development of the north-eastern states. PM Modi has said, "The north-east region has become the prime focus of India's Act East policy."

Diwan also added that the initiatives should be taken to set up integrated check posts along the Arunachal Pradesh border too so that trade with Myanmar and Bhutan further boosts up.

The BJP in its manifesto released on Monday has said that the Governmnet has completed building six integrated check posts with another under construction to facilitate easier trade and travel from the neighbouring countries.

"We will further ease the movement of goods and people by constructing 14 more integrated check posts by 2024. After completion of all the proposed integrated check posts all trade movement with Bangladesh, Nepal and Bhutan will be conducted thought the integrated check posts," the manifesto said.


Conclusion:In fact, in last five years the Narendra Modi government has been trying to strengthen the Act East policy by boosting the overall development of the northeastern states.

Prime Minister Modi has said that Northeast region has become the prime focus of India's act east policy.

"Initiatives should be taken to setup integrated check posts along the Arunachal Pradesh border too so that trade with Myanmar and Bhutan further boost up," said Diwan.
