EXCLUSIVE: Cycling trial offer is a big opportunity for me, says Bihar girl who cycled 1300 km carrying injured father

Talking to ETV Bharat, Bihar girl Jyoti said that the Cycling Federation of India(CFI) has offered her a trial and she is happy about it. Jyoti cycled 1300 km from Gurugram to Bihar with her injured father riding pillion during the corona-induced lockdown.

Patna(Bihar): Efforts of Thirteen-year-old girl Jyoti Kumari from Bihar, who cycled 1300 km from Gurugram to Bihar over eight days with her injured father riding pillion, was lauded by US President Donald Trump's daughter Ivanka Trump. Jyoti has been offered a cycling trial by the Cycling Federation of India(CFI) after her video went viral on social media.

In an exclusive interview with ETV Bharat, Jyoti expressed her happiness for being offered cycling trial. The brave girl said that CFI asked her to participate in a cycle race and she accepted to appear for a trial next month.

She added, "CFI offered me a trial and said that they will take care of my education and other necessary expenses. This would be a great opportunity for me."

Narrating her ordeal, the girl said, "I bought a new bicycle with the corona relief amount of Rs 1,000 deposited by Bihar government.

Asked about how she learnt cycling, Jyoti said, "I learnt it by myself using my elder sister's cycle. My sister got a cycle when she was in school under Bihar government's scheme 'Balika Cycle Yojna' for which I thank our Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.

It is to be noted that Samajwadi party Chief Akhilesh Yadav announced a financial aid of Rs 1 lakh for Bihar's pride Jyoti. Apart from this, National President of Jan Adhikar Party Pappu Yadav rewarded Bihar's daughter with an amount of Rs 20,000 as a token of appreciation.

Prabhat Das Foundation also conferred Jyoti with the title of 'Mithila Veeranga Samman' and gave her a memento.
