New Delhi: Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee (DPCC) president Subhash Chopra on Thursday said that one and all should be allowed to visit the Gurdwara Darbar Sahib, the shrine of the Sikh religion's founder Guru Nanak Dev in Pakistan, and there should be no politics on the issue of anyone wanting to visit the site.
Speaking to ETV Bharat, after meeting former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh here, the city unit chief of the Congress said no one should indulge in any politics on visiting the Gurdwara Darbar Sahib as it's purely a religious matter.
Responding to a query on Congress leader Navjot Singh Sidhu, the DPCC chief said, "He should be allowed to be a part of the ceremony. There should not be any politics over the issue".
Sidhu, who ran into a controversy after featuring in a video released by Pakistan government in which he was shown with images of slain Khalistani separatist Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale and others, has already been granted a visa by Pakistan High Commission for visiting Pakistan for Kartarpur corridor inauguration on November 9.
However, he is an elected representative of an Indian state legislature, needs political clearance from the centre.
The cricketer-turned-politician had written letter to the External Affairs Ministry seeking permission to attend the ceremony.
