Tamil Nadu: Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) Rajya Sabha member R.S. Bharathi was granted interim bail in disparagaing remarks case on Saturday.
He was arrested by Chennai Police earlier in the day for his alleged hate speech against people from scheduled castes (SC) community on 14th February 2020.

As part of speech, Bharathi had said, “There is not a single Scheduled Caste judge in Madhya Pradesh. In Tamil Nadu, Kalaignar (former Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi) first appointed S. Varadarajan as a High Court judge, followed by many others. These appointments are nothing but alms provided by the Dravidian Movement.”

The senior DMK leader had later apologised for his objectionable comments.
