New Delhi: Indian Youth Congress (IYC) on Monday has protested at the Parliamentary street in New Delhi against the recent communal violence that broke out on February 23 claiming more than 47 lives and 300 injured.
The youth wing of the oldest party demanded the resignation of Union Home Minister Amit Shah for his negligence over the issue, which escalated violence with such a tremendous intensity.
"As per the official records, 46 people have been killed during the communal violence that took place nearly 15 km from the Home Ministry. After such gruesome incident, he doesn't deserve to remain at that position, hence we demand the immediate resignation of the Union Home Minister," said IYC Spokesperson, Amrish Ranjan Pandey.
The protesters were seen holding placards and raising slogans against BJP leaders and also burnt the effigy of the Home Minister, demanding an FIR against those involved in hate-mongering speech.
"Many right-wing leaders such as Minister of States Anurag Thakur, Kapil Mishra were involved in the hate speech. Those leaders must be kept behind the bars", added Pandey.

The youth Congress spokesperson also requested the Delhiites to maintain peace and also urged not to fall in the trap of the ruling party.
The police also imposed Section 144, which does not allow assembly of four or more people, in the area, in the aftermath of communal violence in the national capital's northeast region.
Though lawyers appointed by the Supreme Court last week had met anti-CAA protestors to resolve the impasse, a fringe group Hindu Sena on Saturday called for a protest march to end the ongoing sit-in. After the police urged, Hindu Sena on the same day called off its protest march.
