Delhi Violence: Forensic team inspects spot where IB officer was found dead

A Forensic team on Friday inspected the spot where the body of Intelligence Bureau officer Ankit Sharma was found on 26th February. His body was found in Northeast Delhi's Chand Bagh area. The team also collected evidence from suspended AAP councillor Tahir Hussain's factory.

New Delhi: A team from the Delhi Forensic Science Laboratory on Friday collected evidence from suspended AAP councillor Tahir Hussain's factory and inspected the spot where the body of Intelligence Bureau officer Ankit Sharma was found in North Delhi's Chand Bagh area.

Intelligence Bureau operative Ankit Sharma was brutally stabbed to death during the violence in northeast Delhi, the post-mortem examination has revealed.

The autopsy report states: "Multiple abrasion.. deep cut.. by sharp edge objects." The panel of doctors, who carried out the post-mortem, has clearly stated that he was brutally and repeatedly stabbed, leading to his death.

A security assistant in the IB since 2017, Sharma was found dead in the violence-hit Chand Bagh locality where he resided.

Police said that Sharma, after returning home from the office, went out to assess the situation and was confronted by a violent mob which beat him up and stabbed him to death and then dumped his body in the drain. His body was fished out on Wednesday.

AAP on Thursday suspended Hussain from the party's primary membership. This came after an FIR was registered against him for allegedly murdering Intelligence Bureau officer Ankit Sharma.

The FIR was registered at Dayalpur Police Station based on the complaint of Sharma's father Ravinder Kumar. Along with Section 302 (punishment for murder), the FIR also mentions Section 201 (disappearance of evidence) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

Delhi Police have also sealed a factory belonging to Hussain in Khajoori Khaas area.

Earlier, family members of Sharma had alleged that a few people who were pelting stones from the building in Chand Bagh belonging to Hussain, had killed Sharma.

The violence which erupted on Sunday in several areas of North-East Delhi has claimed 42 lives.
