New Delhi: Mask distribution programme for school students at Pandit Pant Marg was cancelled on Thursday after three BJP cadres of the state party office tested positive for COVID-19. The entire office premises have been evacuated and sanitisation was started as soon as the information came to light.
According to sources, three infected cadres were also present at the virtual rally addressed by Union Textile Minister Smriti Irani on June 13. In view of the three employees of the party office being tested positive for COVID-19, the party members decided to cancel the mask distribution programme which was supposed to be launched by the newly elected BJP Chief Adesh Gupta and Mayor of North MCD Avtar Singh.

It was earlier decided that around 50,000 masks will be distributed to school students today but the event was called off.
At present, the total number of active COVID-19 cases stands at 27,741 and the death toll is pegged at 1904. A total of 17,457 patients have been cured and discharged till date.
