New Delhi: Flouting lockdown norms, BJP leader and councillor from Shastri Park Ramesh Gupta on Sunday organised a 'Corona Maha Yagya' near Yamuna river to combat the deadly COVID-19 virus.
The religious ceremony was also attended by BJP leaders including Nirmal Jain, Siddharth and several party workers. The farmers residing nearby the river were offered 'Prashad' in the form of uncooked ration after the Yagya got over.
According to the BJP leader Gupta, the world has been battling the novel coronavirus. All the religious places including temples, mosques, churches and Gurudwaras are closed due to the nationwide lockdown. Therefore, to get the blessings of the god, he organised 'corona maha yagya'. According to him, the Delhiites will get more power to combat the deadly virus originated from China.
Interestingly, the BJP leader had notified media by press release of 'Corona Yagya'.
The union territory has more than 13,000 cases of the novel coronavirus in which nearly half of them have recovered and half of them are still under treatment.
According to the latest update, 261 people died from the deadly virus in the union territory.
