Mizoram's tally rises to 2,245
Mizoram on Saturday reported 16 new COVID-19 cases, pushing the state's tally to 2,245, an official said.

Of the 16 new cases, 11 were reported from Aizawl district, two from Lawngtlai and one each from Kolasib, Saitual and Champhai districts, the official said.

Fourteen patients - 11 in Aizawl, two in Lawngtlai and one in Serchhip district, have no travel history and were diagnosed during contact tracing, he said.

Two patients from Champhai and Saitual districts have returned from Tripura and Assam, he said.

The official said that all the patients are out of danger and the majority of them are asymptomatic.

The state now has 112 active COVID-19 cases, while 2,133 people have recovered from the infection, he said

Mizoram has not reported any fatality due to COVID-19 till date.

Altogether, 95,287 samples have been tested for COVID-19 including 1,703 samples on Friday.

48 new cases in Ladakh; 151 patients cured

Forty-eight more people have tested positive for COVID-19 in Ladakh, taking the total virus caseload in the Union Territory to 5,441, officials said on Saturday.

They said 151 more patients have been cured of the infection bringing down the number of active cases in the region to 915 -- 738 in Leh district and 177 in Kargil district.

Ladakh has recorded a total of 65 COVID-19-related deaths, while 4,461 patients have so far recovered.

Of the 48 new cases, 40 people tested positive in Leh and eight others in Kargil district, they said.

A total of 123 patients were discharged in Leh and another 28 in Kargil after successful treatment, they said.

Nine deaths, 1,451 new  cases in Telangana

Telangana clocked 1,451 fresh coronavirus cases,taking the tally to 2.20 lakh, even as the recovery rate in the state rose to over 89 per cent.

The toll mounted to 1,265 with nine more fatalities.

The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) accounted for 235 of the 1,451 fresh cases, followed by Rangareddy 104, Medchal Malkajgiri 101 and other districts, a state government bulletin said on Saturday, providing data as of 8 pm on October 16.

The cumulative recovered cases stood at 1.96 lakh while 22,774 were under treatment.

The bulletin said 42,497 samples were tested on October 16.

Cumulatively, 37.89 lakh samples have been tested.

The samples tested per million population was 1.01 lakh.

The case fatality rate in the state was 0.57 per cent, while it was 1.5 per cent at the national level.

The recovery rate rose to89.1 per cent, while it was 87.7 per cent in the country.

India records decline in new cases, tally over 74 Lakh

 With a spike of 62,211 new Covid-19 cases and 837 deaths in 24 hours, India's tally reached 74,32,680, the Union Health Ministry data said on Saturday.

The spike is lower than the Friday figures of 63,371 coronavirus new cases and 895 deaths recorded in 24 hours.

India's doubling time has also sharply increased to 70.4 days. This indicates a substantial fall in the daily new cases and the consequent increase in time taken to double the total cases.

On Saturday, the Health Ministry data said 65,24,595 have been discharged, 7,95,087 are currently active while 1,12,998 lost the battle against the pandemic.

The recovery rate stands at 87.78 per cent, the fatality rate is 1.52 per cent, the data from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said.

Maharashtra continues to be the worst-hit with a total of 15,76,062 cases, including 41,502 deaths; followed by Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh and Delhi.

According to the data from the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), India conducted 9,99,090 sample tests in a single day on Friday, taking the total number of samples tested so far to 9,32,54,017.

Odisha reports 2,138 new cases, 15 fatalities

Odisha's COVID-19 tally on Friday mounted to 2,64,149 with 2,138 more people testing positive for the infection, while 15 more fatalities pushed the toll to 1,104, a health department official said.

The state also registered the recovery of 2,850 patients taking the total number of cured people to 2,41, 385, which is 91.38 per cent of Odisha's caseload.

Khurda district, of which Bhubaneswar is a part, recorded 361 new cases, followed by Cuttack (156) and Angul (151).

Sikkim reports 31 fresh cases

Sikkim reported 31 fresh novel coronavirus cases in the past one day taking the tally in the state to 3531, an official said on Friday.

A total of 3096 people have recovered from the disease, while the number of fatalities is 59 so far, state IEC member Sonam Bhutia said.

East Sikkim registered the highest number of 25 positive cases, while South Sikkim accounted for four cases and West Sikkim and North Sikkim reported one case each during the time.

As per the district-wise distribution of COVID-19 cases, East Sikkim reported 2572 cases followed by 706 in South Sikkim, 159 in West Sikkim and 13 in North Sikkim.

The mountain state has 295 active cases, he said adding 81 others have migrated from the state.\Sikkim has tested 53, 814 samples so far, Bhutia said.

Gujarat records 1,191 more cases, 11 deaths

Gujarat on Friday registered 1,191 coronavirus cases, taking its tally to 1,57,474, while the death toll also climbed up to 3,620 with 11 new deaths.

In October so far, the state has added 18,899 cases with an average of 1,181 daily.

A total of 1,279 patients were discharged, taking the total to 1,39,149, while there are currently 14,705 active cases, out of which 92 critical patients are still on the ventilator.

Surat again led with 268 cases, Ahmedabad recorded 189, Vadodara 125, Rajkot 111 and Jamnagar 74.

697 new cases take J&K's tally to 86,754

Jammu and Kashmir on Friday reported 697 new cases, taking the Union Territory's tally to 86,754, while 8 deaths in the past 24 hours mounted the death toll to 1,366.

A statement issued by the Information and Public Relations Department said that of the 697 positive cases reported on Friday, 312 were from Jammu division and 385 from Kashmir division.

So far, 86,754 people have been infected with coronavirus of which 76,479 have recovered completely.

The number of active cases in the UT presently stands at 8,909, of which 3,700 are in Jammu division and 5,209 in Kashmir division.

3,428 new cases take Delhi's tally to 3.24L

The national capital reported 3,428 new Covid-19 cases and 22 fatalities related to the viral disease in the last 24 hours.

With the addition of the latest figures, Delhi's Covid tally mounted to 3.24 lakh on Friday, while the death toll swelled to 5,946, according to the latest bulletin issued by the Health Department of Delhi government.

The positivity rate recorded as per the tests done in the last 24 hours stood at 5.9 per cent. The death rate, based on the average of the last 10 days, remained at 1.25 per cent, the release stated.

Andhra active cases plummet below 40k mark

Active Covid cases in Andhra Pradesh have plummeted below the 40,000 mark to reach 38,979 on Friday.

As many as 5,010 more patients have recovered from the virus to power the decline, propelling the total number of recoveries to 7.3 lakh.

On Friday, the state witnessed 3,967 more Covid positive cases, raising the state's tally to 7.7 lakh.

In the past 24 hours, West Godavari district accounted for 627 new infections, followed by East Godavari (608), Chittoor (510), Krishna (456), Prakasam (355), Guntur (246) and Anantapur (233).

Maharashtra's deaths, cases again on the rise

After a brief lull, Maharashtra's Covid deaths again began to increase and cases were again in the higher ranges, health officials said on Friday.

The state witnessed 306 deaths on Friday, taking its toll to 41,502, while there were 11,447 new cases, which took the tally to 15,76,062.

In great relief, the state recovery remained high, but after 7 days, dropped marginally - from 85.04 per cent to 85.03 per cent - while the mortality rate remained at 2.63 per cent for the fourth day.

Against this, 13,885 fully-recovered patients returned home - taking up the total number to 13,44,368 till date, against the 189,715 active cases in the state.

As per Friday's figures, there was one death roughly every 4.7 minutes and 477 new cases added every hour to the state tally.

Andaman & Nicobar Islands reports 10 new COVID-19 cases

The COVID-19 tally of Andaman and Nicobar Islands rose to 4,072 as 10 more people tested positive for the infection, a health official said on
Saturday.

The COVID-19 death toll in the Union territory climbed to 56 with one more person succumbing to the infection, the official said.

COVID-19 LIVE: India records decline in new cases, tally over 74 Lakh

Karnataka: With 8,580 Covid-hit patients discharged in a single day, recoveries outnumbered 7,542 new cases in Karnataka on Thursday.

"Recoveries shot up to 6,28,588 across the state so far, with 8,580 discharged in the last 24 hours across the state," said the state health bulletin on Friday.

With 7,542 new cases, the state's Covid tally rose to 7,51,390, including 1,12,427 active cases, while 73 succumbed to the infection, taking the death toll to 10,356 till date.

Meanwhile, positive cases in Bengaluru crossed the 3-lakh mark (3,00,634), with 3,441 fresh cases over the last 24 hours and 65,664 active cases.

With 3,021 patients discharged in the last 24 hours across the city, 2,31,483 have recovered since the pandemic broke on March 8 in the state, while 24 died of the virus, taking the toll to 3,486 in the city.

Of the 946 patients in the intensive care units (ICUs), 359 are in Bengaluru hospitals, 80 in Dharwad, 75 in Ballari, 51 in Hassan, 43 in Chamarajanagar and 34 in Kalaburagi.

Of the 1,05,891 tests conducted, 27,961 were through the rapid antigen detection and 77,930 through RT-PCR.

Mizoram on Saturday reported 16 new COVID-19 cases, pushing the state's tally to 2,245, an official said.

Forty-eight more people have tested positive for COVID-19 in Ladakh, taking the total virus caseload in the Union Territory to 5,441, officials said on Saturday.

Odisha reports 2,138 new cases, 15 fatalities

The COVID-19 tally of Andaman and Nicobar Islands rose to 4,072 as 10 more people tested positive for the infection, a health official said on
Saturday.

The COVID-19 death toll in the Union territory climbed to 56 with one more person succumbing to the infection, the official said.

Karnataka: With 8,580 Covid-hit patients discharged in a single day, recoveries outnumbered 7,542 new cases in Karnataka on Thursday.

"Recoveries shot up to 6,28,588 across the state so far, with 8,580 discharged in the last 24 hours across the state," said the state health bulletin on Friday.

With 7,542 new cases, the state's Covid tally rose to 7,51,390, including 1,12,427 active cases, while 73 succumbed to the infection, taking the death toll to 10,356 till date.
