Latur (Maharashtra): The corona-virus outbreak which created a havoc with 62 positive cases reported in India has hit hard the poultry industry of Latur.
Union Minister of Animal Husbandry, Dairying and Fisheries Giriraj Singh has admitted that poultry industry has been losing Rs 1,500-2000 crore daily.
In Latur district of Maharashtra, Chicken is being sold at Rs 7, however, there are very few customers to purchase it. According to the reports, earlier 30 to 40 tonnes of chicken were sold which has now been reduced by 80 per cent.

Further, traders are not ready to purchase it since people have been avoiding consumption of meat, fish, chicken and eggs. Due to fall in demand wholesale chicken prices have reduced by approximately 70 per cent.
Poultry owners have been urging government to take strict actions against the rumour mongers who are spreading misinformation among public.
