Hyderabad: The Union Health Ministry on Monday launched an online portal about COVID-19 with all the latest information on the coronavirus disease.
The web portal will have data on research development, clinical trials on potential COVID-19 vaccine in India, its launch date and other information, Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan said.
The Health Ministry further said that the first vaccine in India will most likely be available by the first quarter of 2021.
The health ministry also released the 100-year timeline history of the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR).
India's tally on Monday crossed 60-lakh mark after the country reported a spike of 82,170 new virus cases, according to Union Health and Family Welfare Ministry data.
India's case tally now stands at 60,74,703, with 95,542 deaths due to coronavirus.
Delhi
New Delhi: Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, who is suffering from coronavirus and dengue and is admitted to a private hospital, may be discharged soon.
"I am feeling much better now. If everything goes well, I will be free from the hospital in a day or two," he told media.
Sisodia was admitted to Saket's Max Hospital last week after his condition deteriorated. He was administered convalescent plasma therapy three days ago after which his condition improved.
Sisodia was diagnosed with coronavirus on September 14.
Maharashtra
Mumbai: Amid growing concerns over the spread of the novel coronavirus, Maharashtra government is likely to allow dine-in restaurants facility from the first week of October in the state.
In a meeting held with representatives of restaurants, Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray indicated that he may look for the possibility if the SOPs are finalised and approved till then.
Meanwhile, the COVID-19 tally in Mumbai's slum colony Dharavi rose to 3,152 with the addition of 12 new cases on Monday, a senior BMC official said.
Rajasthan
Jaipur: Rajasthan recorded the highest single-day spike of 2,112 coronavirus cases on Monday, raising its infection count to 1,30,971, while 15 more fatalities pushed the death toll to 1,456, a health department bulletin said.
Among the total number of people contracting the virus, 20,043 are under treatment while 1,08,476 have recovered, it said.
Jaipur has so far recorded the maximum number of COVID-19 related deaths at 319. It is followed by 142 in Jodhpur and 110 in Bikaner.
Jharkhand
Ranchi: Jharkhand Education Minister Jagarnath Mahto on Monday said that he tested positive for COVID-19 and has been admitted to Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) here.
"Dear friends, my report for COVID-19 has come out positive. I have been admitted to RIMS for treatment," he said in a tweet.
The minister also appealed to all those who came in contact with him in the last few days to get themselves tested for coronavirus.
Meanwhile, Jharkhand reported 974 fresh cases in the past 24 hours, pushing the tally to 79,909, while the death toll mounted to 679 with nine more fatalities.
West Bengal
Kolkata: In an attempt to curb the Covid-19 spread during Durga Puja, the West Bengal government has banned cultural programmes at puja pandals and has urged the organisers to stagger the festivities over additional days so that people can participate while maintaining social distancing.
The fresh guidelines, issued by the West Bengal government on Monday, focus on ensuring social distancing among devotees during all festivities, starting from inauguration to immersion. Among the guidelines, social distancing, mandatory use of face masks and hand sanitisers at all times of visiting pandals, the government laid down a detailed list.
