Hyderabad: India's COVID-19 case tally crossed 53-lakh mark with a spike of 93,337 new cases and 1,247 deaths in last 24 hours.The total case tally stands at 53,08,015 including 10,13,964 active cases, 42,08,432 cured/discharged/migrated & 85,619 deaths .

India has overtaken the United States to register the highest number of COVID-19 recoveries in the world, informed the Union Health Ministry on Saturday.

The total recoveries in the country crossed 42 lakh. "India overtakes the USA and becomes No.1 in terms of global COVID19 RECOVERIES. TOTAL RECOVERIES cross 42 lakh," it tweeted.

Delhi

Amid a surge in coronavirus cases across India, Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain today took a jibe at the centre as he said: "We're stuck in technical terms" and the government should have admitted India is in "community spread" stage.

"When cases are increasing on such a large scale in Delhi and other parts of the country, we should have accepted that there's community spread. I think we are stuck in technical terms here.. but only ICMR (country's top medical research body) or the central government can comment on this."

Karnataka

Bengaluru: Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister Ashwath Narayan on Saturday said he had tested coronavirus positive and was now in home isolation in the city. "Ahead of the Monsoon Session of the Assembly from Monday, I underwent a Covid-19 test on Saturday, and its result has turned positive. I am asymptomatic but will be in-home isolation," tweeted Narayan.

Jharkhand

A district judge has tested positive for COVID-19 in Jharkhand, an official said on Saturday.

"The samples of Latehar Principal District and Sessions Judge Vishnu Kant Sahay were collected for a COVID-19 test on Friday, the result of which returned as positive," Civil Surgeon Dr S K Srivastava said.

He is being treated at his residence as per protocol.

Maharashtra

Nine senior workers of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) who live in the organization's headquarters here have tested positive for coronavirus, a Sangh functionary said on Saturday.

"Nine swayamsevaks, mostly senior citizens, tested positive two or three days ago. All have been quarantined properly and the headquarters has been fully sanitized," he said.

RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat and General Secretary Bhaiyyaji Joshi were not in the headquarters when these workers tested positive.
