Hyderabad: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday unveiled an ambitious National Digital Health Mission under which every Indian will get a health ID that will ease access to medical services and also announced that the country has made plans for mass-producing COVID-19 vaccine once scientists give a green signal.

In his Independence Day address from the ramparts of the Red Fort, the prime minister said the health ID will store every individual's medical records and the Mission will herald a new revolution in the health sector.
Bihar
Patna: Bihar on Saturday registered 3,536 new cases of coronavirus, crossing the one lakh mark in the process. Thus, it also became the eighth state in the country to have registered at least one lakh cases of coronavirus thus far.
Bihar detects 3,536 more positive cases in the last 24 hours. Active cases in the state stand at 36,237, said the state health department.
After today’s spike, Bihar has registered a total of 1,02,906 cases of COVID-19 till now. This includes over 65,000 recovered cases, 36,237 active cases and 515 deaths, of which 15 took place on the day.
Also today, for the second consecutive day, more than one lakh samples were tested. While 1.61 lakh samples were tested on Saturday, 1.21 lakh samples were tested a day ago, on Friday.
Jharkhand
Ranchi: Jharkhand reported the highest single-day spike in COVID-19 cases and fatalities on Saturday with 1,242 people found infected with the coronavirus disease while 16 patients died in different hospitals across the state.
More than 100 inmates of Ranchi’s Birsa Munda Central Jail (BMCJ) were among the 1,242 new patients infected with the virus. The state also reported 698 recoveries in the last 24 hours.
With these new cases, the state’s total count touched 22,192 including 8,156 active cases, 13,811 recovered cases and 225 deaths.
According to the health department’s bulletin, with 276 new cases, Ranchi reported the most number of cases by East Singhbhum (169) and Giridih (107).
Uttarakhand
Dehradun: The total positive cases of COVID-19 in the state reached 11,940 on Saturday with the detection of 325 new positive cases. With this, the number of active cases reached 3,997. Total 7,748 patients have also recovered in the state and as many as 151 COVID infected have succumbed so far. At present, the recovery rate in the state is 65.16 per cent.
