Hyderabad: With 53,601 new coronavirus cases and 871 deaths in India on Tuesday, the COVID-19 count in India has risen to the case count of 22,68,676 including 6,39,929 active cases, 15,83,490 cured/discharged/migrated cases and 45,257 deaths, according to the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), 6,98,290 samples were tested on August 10 and over 2.52 crore samples have been tested so far. Earlier in the day, the Union Health Ministry said that COVID-19 fatality rate has fallen below 2 per cent for the first time and stood at 1.99 per cent in India while the recovery rate rose to 69.80 per cent.

Active coronavirus cases in the worst-hit state of Maharashtra have climbed to 1,48,042. Tamil Nadu has reported 5,834 COVID-19 cases, 6,005 discharged and 118 deaths today, taking the total number of cases in the state to 3,08,649.

Delhi: National Capital registered the lowest death in last 3 months

Taking to Twitter to share lowest deaths in Delhi in two months due to coronavirus disease (Covid-19) outbreak, Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday said ‘every human is valuable to us’ and the effort is to ensure not a single person succumbs to the infection. Delhi on Tuesday recorded 1,257 fresh coronavirus cases and eight deaths, in the last 24 hours, according to the health bulletin issued. This is the first time in over two months that the daily number of deaths has dropped below 10.

Maharashtra: State sees improvement in Covid-19 recovery rate amid no sign of flattening of the curve

Maharashtra coronavirus disease (Covid-19) recovery rate has been improving amid no sign of flattening of the viral outbreak curve. State health department data showed that 3,58,421 Covid-19 patients have recovered from their viral infection and discharged from various healthcare facilities in the state to date. On Sunday (August 9), Maharashtra reported the highest single-day recovery tally of 13,348 Covid-19 patients and 6,711 on the following day. In the past five days, 52,900 Covid-19 patients have recovered, as compared to 56,248 new cases reported during the corresponding period.

Tamil Nadu: Tamil Nadu receives over Rs 500 crore from Centre

Tamil Nadu has received Rs 512.64 crore from Centre in 2 tranches under Emergency Response and Health Systems Preparedness package out of Rs 712.64 crore allotted to the state, said Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami on Tuesday. Tamil Nadu, the second-worst affected state by the pandemic, recorded 5,914 new cases and 114 deaths on Monday. The total number of cases in the state now stands at 3,02,815 including 53,009 active cases, 2,44,675 discharged patients and 5,041 deaths.

Telangana: DSP succumbs due to COVID-19

Telangana reported 1,896 new cases in the past 24 hours, taking the tally to 82,647. Eight people, including Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), succumbed to the infection, pushing the toll in the state to 645. The 50-year-old cop had joined the police force in 1996 as a Reserve Sub-Inspector and was currently working in the Armed Reserve wing in Mahabubabad District.

Madhya Pradesh: Madhya Pradesh CM tests negative for COVID-19

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Tuesday said that he has tested negative for COVID-19. Chouhan had tested positive for COVID-19 on July 25. The Chief Minister said that he will be under isolation until tomorrow on the advice of doctors. Meanwhile, the state coronavirus tally reaches 29, 674 after 193 more people tested positive for the deadly virus on Tuesday.

Punjab: CM seeks liberal fiscal package from PM Modi

Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh on Tuesday sought from Prime Minister Narendra Modi a liberal financial package to fill the revenue collection gap caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. The chief minister raised the demand during a video conference meeting of the prime minister with chief ministers to review the coronavirus situation. Punjab has seen 50 per cent decline in revenue for the first quarter of the current financial year. The chief minister also said the cap of 35 per cent in the State Disaster Relief Fund (SDRF) for COVID-19 related expenditure, as per the Ministry of Home Affairs guidelines, is not sufficient to meet the current requirements and sought flexibility in coronavirus-related terms of expenditure.

Jharkhand: Covid-19 death toll rises to 189 with 11 more fatalities

Eleven more people succumbed to Covid-19 in Jharkhand on Monday, pushing the death toll to 189, a state government bulletin said. A total of 531 fresh cases raised the tally in the state to 18,786, it said. Jharkhand now has 8,849 active coronavirus cases, while 9,748 people have recovered from the disease, the bulletin said.
