Hyderabad: India's total number of coronavirus cases and fatalities per million population is one of the lowest in the world. However, cases continue to surge with count breaching the seven lakh mark. With as many as 467 deaths reported in the last 24 hours due to coronavirus, the death toll has reached 20,160.
Delhi
The Arvind Kejriwal-led government will set up a ''COVID-19 War Room'', which will 24x7 monitor the city's fight against the novel coronavirus, and suggest measures to effectively deal with the prevailing situation. According to Dr. Nutan Mundeja, Director General of Health Services, war room is being set up at the Delhi Secretariat and will be manned by around 25 experts.
According to the plan, the new strategic facility will cover all aspects such as testing, bed strength, medical equipment, ambulance infrastructure and containment zones.
The district administration has been taking steps in their respective areas, and the war room will operate in a centralised manner for better coordination among the districts.
Madhya Pradesh
Anil Mishra, the personal assistant to BJP Rajya Sabha MP Jyotiraditya Scindia, has tested positive. He has been accompanying Scindia throughout his tours post-corona infection. His contact trail is longer than that of Scindia. He has been in touch with Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan.
In capital Indore, 27 members of a family have tested positive in Hatod region. The health department has sealed the town following the infections.
Bihar
Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's niece has tested positive for novel coronavirus. Two days ago, Nitish Kumar and 14 staffers of the CMO had tested negative for COVID-19. And now, Patna Medical College has issued an order to deploy six doctors, three nurses and a ventilator at CM's official residence.
Meanwhile, the Legislative Council will remain closed till July 10 after acting Chairman of the Council Awadhesh Narayan Singh tested positive for the virus.
Odisha
The total number of COVID-19 cases in Odisha crossed the 10,000-mark on Tuesday with 571 fresh infections, while the toll climbed to 42 as four more people succumbed to the disease, a health department official said. A total of 219 patients recovered in the last 24 hours.
Jharkhand
In a bizarre incident, a worm was found in the food supplies given to COVID-19 at a designated COVID hospital in Dhanbad. Following the incident, patients created ruckus and threatened to go on hunger strike.
Punjab
Six more people died from coronavirus in Punjab on Tuesday as 258 new infections surfaced, taking the numbers to 175 deaths and 6,749 cases.
Haryana
Pt Bhagwat Dayal Sharma Post-Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (PGIMS), Rohtak, has started clinical human trials to evaluate the safety and efficacy of an indigenous COVID vaccine. For this, doctors from the community medicine department are being engaged in the process. A list of volunteers has also been sent to Bharat Biotech in Hyderabad.
Uttarkhand
Sixty one more people tested positive for COVID-19 in Uttarakhand, taking the total in the state to 3,230, officials said. The number of active cases stands at 538. The state's recovery rate has improved to 81.81 per cent and the doubling rate stands at 59.62 days.
Gujarat
Following the rise in infections, Surat Municipal Corporation has banned street vendors in key areas for a period of seven days. According to reports, the ban will be enforced in Katargam, Varaccha and Sarthana areas.
All eateries in these regions will be asked to follow strict social distancing norms or face fines up to Rs. 5,000.
