Hyderabad: According to Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, India crossed 5 lakh-mark as it reported highest single-day spike of 18552 new COVID-19 cases and 384 deaths in last 24 hours.

Delhi

Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said that Delhi government is combating the pandemic by increasing beds for COVID-19 patients, raising the number of tests, providing oxymetres and oxygen concentrators to patients in home isolation, providing plasma therapy, and through survey and screening.

Karnataka

BS Yediyurappa-led government has decided that starting from July 5, strict lockdown will be observed on all Sundays throughout the state. According to reports, government offices will have a five-day week from July 10 and the night curfew timings have been changed from 8 pm to 5 am from 9 pm to 5 am.

Offering a ray of hope to all those battling the deadly coronavirus, a woman here has successfully recovered from the disease at the ripe old age of 100, leaving the medical fraternity and her family elated.

Maharashtra

In one of the worst virus-hit city Mumbai, an entire village has been declared a containment zone after a groom's brother died of the infection. Over 90 relatives who were part of the Haldi ceremony will be tested for the infection.

In order to check the extent of community spread, antigen testing will commence for high-risk populace including children, pregnant women and aged individuals.

Himachal Pradesh

The Union government has provided 500 ventilators to Himachal Pradesh in its ongoing fight against coronavirus. Of these, 178 are transport ventilators and the remaining 322 are ICU ventilators. The ventilators are being installed in medical colleges, district hospitals and other health institutions dealing with COVID cases

Jharkhand

Barhi Police Station has been classified as containment zone, after an accused, kept in police custody, tested positive. A total of 58 police officials remain in quarantine following the incident.

As a measure to control the number of COVID-19 cases, the state government has extended lockdown till July 31.

Uttar Pradesh

The state reported 19 novel coronavirus fatalities and 605 infections, as the state's virus count reached 21,548 while the death toll rose to 649. A total of 14,215 people have so far been discharged from hospitals after recovering from the infection, leaving 6,684 active COVID-19 cases in the state.

Bihar

The COVID-19 count in the state is inching closer to the 9,000 mark, according to the state health department. However, the recovery rate has increased to 77%, which is definitely a positive sign. While 6,669 patients have recovered from the disease in Bihar, 56 people have died of it.

Rajasthan

In what appears to be a case of medical negligence, BDM hospital authorities in Jaipur, treatment was given to COVID-19 patients next to the dead bodies of people who died of the infection.

Punjab

Seven more people died of coronavirus in Punjab on Saturday, raising the toll to 128, while 100 new cases pushed the state's infection count to 5,056. As many as 119 coronavirus patients were discharged from various hospitals on Saturday after they recovered from the infection. A total of 3,320 people have been cured of the infection so far.
