AP's COVID-19 tally breaches 7 lakh mark, 41 more deaths
Amaravati: Andhra Pradesh on Thursday crossed another grim milestone of seven lakh coronavirus cases though the spread of the pandemic has been on a declining trend over the past few days.It took 14 days for the state to add one lakh cases  from six to seven whereas the previous four lakhs came in a
10-day span each.

The state's Covid-19 tally crossed six lakh on September 17. The state's COVID-19 aggregate now reached 7,00,235 after 6,751 new cases were added in 24 hours ending 9 am on Thursday. The latest bulletin said 7,297 patients also recovered, taking the gross to 6,36,508. The overall toll climbed to 5,869 following 41 fresh fatalities, the bulletin added.

Delhi's COVID-19 tally breaches 2.82 lakh mark with 3,037 fresh cases; death toll at 5,401

New Delhi: A total of 3,037 fresh coronavirus cases in the national capital took the infection tally to 2.82 lakh on Thursday, while the death toll mounted to 5,401, authorities said.

Forty fatalities due to the disease were recorded in the last 24 hours in the city, they said. A total of 55,423 COVID-19 tests were conducted, officials said, adding the number of containment zones to 2,615.

Senior Congress leader Ahmed Patel tests positive for COVID-19

New Delhi: Senior Congress leader Ahmed Patel on Thursday said he has tested positive for COVID-19 and is in self-isolation at his residence. Announcing his infection on Twitter, he urged all those who have come in close contact with him recently to self-isolate themselves.

"I have tested positive for COVID-19. I request all those who came in close contact with me recently, to self-isolate," he said on Twitter. Many Congress leaders, including Abhishek Singhvi and Tarun Gogoi, have tested positive for COVID-19.

Besides, Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu, Union ministers Amit Shah, Nitin Gadkari and Pralhad Patel have also been infected with the novel coronavirus.

COVID-19: UP reports 4,095 new cases

Lucknow: With 4,095 fresh cases, the COVID-19 tally in Uttar Pradesh reached 4,03,101 on Thursday. As many as 4,444 patients were discharged in the last 24 hours during which 4,095 fresh cases were reported, Additional Chief Secretary of Health, Amit Mohan Prasad said.          

The number of active cases has come down to 50,378 while the total number of those getting discharged from hospitals has reached 3,46,859, he said, adding that the recovery rate of the state stands at 86.04 per cent. Till now, a total of 5,864 people have succumbed to the disease, he said.

Mizoram's COVID-19 tally crosses 2,000 mark

Aizawl: Mizoram's COVID-19 tally on Thursday crossed the 2,000 mark as 31 more people, including 23 security personnel tested positive for the virus, a health department official said.At least 1,252 samples were tested in the last 24 hours of which 31 were diagnosed with COVID-19, pushing the state's coronavirus tally to 2,017, the official said.

Record 17 COVID-19 fatalities in Odisha push toll to 859

Bhubaneswar: Odisha on Thursday registered its highest single-day spike of 17 COVID-19 fatalities, which raised the death toll to 859, while 3,615 new cases pushed the
state's tally to 2, 22,734, a health department official said.

Khurda district, of which state capital Bhubaneswar is a part, registered four deaths. Two patients succumbed to the infection in Cuttack and Nayagarh districts, and one in Angul, Bhadrak, Balangir, Dhenkanal, Jagatsinghpur, Kalahandi, Kendrapara, Puri and Rayagada.

COVID-19: Active cases remain below 10 lakh for 10th successive day

New Delhi: For the tenth successive day, active cases of coronavirus infection in India were below 10 lakh while the country's steady trend of posting high levels of daily recoveries continued, the Union Health Ministry said on Thursday.

With 85,376 people having recuperated from COVID-19 in a span of 24 hours, India's total recoveries surged to 52,73,201 on Thursday pushing the recovery rate to 83.53 per cent, according to the data updated at 8 am."The rise in total recovered cases has been steep.The last 10 lakh recoveries were added in just 12 days," the ministry underlined.

Puducherry reports 489 fresh COVID-19 cases, four deaths

Puducherry: Puducherry on Thursday logged 489 fresh COVID-19 cases while four people succumbed to the virus taking the toll to 525, a top Health department official
said.

The 489 new cases were reported after examination of 5,153 samples, Director of Health and Family Welfare S Mohan Kumar said in a press release.

1,938 new COVID-19 cases in Thane; tally crosses 1.75 lakh

Thane: The COVID-19 tally in Maharashtra's Thane district has reached 1,75,012 with an addition of 1,938 new cases, an official said on Thursday.

Besides, the death toll rose to 4,458 after 32 patients succumbed to the disease on Wednesday, he said. The number of COVID-19 cases in the district at the start of September was 1,25,352, and the tally has now crossed 1.75 lakh, the official said.

Telangana adds 2,214 new COVID-19 cases; eight deaths push toll to 1,135

Hyderabad: Telangana recorded 2,214 new COVID-19 cases, taking the tally of infections to 1,93,600, while the death toll rose to 1,135 with eight more fatalities.

The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) recorded 305 fresh cases, followed by Rangareddy (191), Medchal Malkajgiri (153), Nalgonda (149), Warangal Urban (131), Karimnagar (106) and other districts, according to state government data at 8 pm on September 30.

The bulletin said 54,443 samples were tested on September 30. Cumulatively, the number of samples tested moved past 30 lakh and stood at 30,50,444.

244 new cases push Arunachal's COVID-19 tally to 9,796

Itanagar: At least 244 more people, including 31 security personnel and four health workers, tested positive for COVID-19 in Arunachal Pradesh on Thursday, taking the northeastern state's tally to 9,796, an official said on Thursday.

Of the fresh cases, 117 were reported from the Capital Complex region, 15 each from Changlang and West Siang, 14 each from Upper Subansiri and Papumpare, 13 from West Kameng, nine from Kurung Kumey, eight from Tirap and seven from East Siang, State Surveillance Officer (SSO) Dr Lobsang Jampa said.

Jharkhand reports 1,111 new COVID-19 cases, 13 fresh fatalities

Ranchi: Jharkhand's COVID-19 caseload rose to 83,651 as 1,111 more people tested positive for the infection, a health department official said on Thursday.

Thirteen more patients succumbed to the disease, taking the state's coronavirus death toll to 713, he said.

Of the fresh fatalities, four were registered in Ramgarh, two each in East Singhbhum, Koderma and Bokaro and one each in Ranchi, Palamau and Lohardaga, the official said.

Ranchi district reported the maximum number of fresh cases at 507, followed by East Singbhum at 113.

Jharkhand now has 11,596 active COVID-19 cases, while 71,342 people have been cured of the disease so far, the official said.

COVID-19 LIVE: With spike of 86,821 cases, India's COVID-19 tally crosses 63-lakh mark

New Delhi: With an increase of 86,821 new cases and 1,181 deaths reported in the last 24 hours, India's COVID-19 count crossed the 63-lakh mark on Thursday, according to the Union Health Ministry.

As per the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW), the count stands at 63,12,584 in the country including 9,40,705 active cases, and 52,73,201 cured and discharged or migrated patients.

With 1,181 deaths reported, the toll due to the disease has now reached 98,678 in the country.

Maharashtra continues to be the worst affected by the pandemic with 2,59,462 active cases, 10,88,322 cured and discharged cases and 36,662 deaths.

Karnataka with 1,07,635 active cases is the next on the list. While 4,85,268 patients have been cured in the State, the disease has claimed 8,864 lives so far.

Kerala with 67,140 active cases is also severely affected, however, 1,28,224 patients have been cured in the State, while 742 deaths have occurred due to it.

Meanwhile, according to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), 7,56,19,781 samples have been tested up to September 30 for COVID-19 in the country. Out of these 14,23,052 samples were tested yesterday.

New Delhi: A total of 3,037 fresh coronavirus cases in the national capital took the infection tally to 2.82 lakh on Thursday, while the death toll mounted to 5,401, authorities said.

Senior Congress leader Ahmed Patel tests positive for COVID-19

COVID-19: UP reports 4,095 new cases
