42 fresh cases take Meghalaya's tally to 3,076

Forty-two more persons tested positive for COVID-19 in Meghalaya on Tuesday, taking the state's tally to 3,076, Health Minister A L Hek said.

There are now 1,343 active cases in the state, while 17 patients have succumbed to the disease so far, he said.

As many as 156 patients were cured of the disease during the day, taking the total number of recoveries in the state to 1,716, Health Services director Aman War said.

Kerala reports 3,026 cases, death toll touches 372

Kerala reported 3,026 fresh COVID-19 cases on Tuesday, taking the total infection count to 92,514 as the toll mounted to 372with 13 more deaths.

Thiruvananthapuram accounted for 562 cases, the highest, followed by Malappuram 358, Ernakulam 318, Kozhikode 246, Palakkad 226, Alappuzha 217 and Kollam 209 cases, Health Minister KK Shailaja, said.

India's cases per million population among lowest in world: Health Ministry

The number of COVID-19 cases per million population in the country stands at 3,102 and it is among the lowest in the world, said Union Health Ministry on Tuesday.

Addressing a press conference here, Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan said the number of COVID-19 cases per million population in Brazil and US is 6 times that of India. 

"The cases per million population stands at 3,527 for the world. It is 4,945 for Mexico, 7,063 for Russia, 19,549 for the US and 19,514 for Brazil. The number of COVID-19 cases per million population in the country stands at 3,102 and it is among the lowest in the world," he said.

6,743 fresh cases take UP's tally to over 2.78 lakh

The COVID-19 death toll in Uttar Pradesh rose to 4,047 on Tuesday with 73 more fatalities, while 6,743 fresh cases pushed the state's infection tally to over 2.78 lakh, officials said. 

According to the bulletin issued by the UP government here, of the 73 deaths, 19 were reported from Lucknow followed by six from Prayagraj and four from Kanpur.

Three deaths each were reported from Gorakhpur, Varanasi, Moradabad, Maharajganj, Unnao and Rae Bareli among others, it said.

Three more deaths in HP; tally crosses 7,700-mark

Three more people died of coronavirus in Himachal Pradesh on Tuesday, taking the death toll to 58, while 43 fresh cases pushed the state's infection tally to 7,704.

According to state health department data, the latest fatalities were reported from Shimla.

Solan accounts for 15 of the total COVID-19 deaths in the state, followed by 10 fatalities in Kangra, eight in Mandi, seven in Shimla, five each in Hamirpur, Chamba and Una, and three in Sirmaur.

The number of active cases in the state has also climbed to 2,267, Special Secretary (health) Nipun Jindal said.

1,667 more cases in Bihar

As many as 1,667 new COVID-19 cases were reported from Bihar on Monday, informed the State Health Department on Tuesday. 

The active cases in the State have risen to 17,787. Among the new cases, 208 reported from Patna, 129 from Purnia, and 119 from Araria.

3,490 more cases in Odisha

With 3,490 new COVID-19 cases reported in Odisha, the total number of coronavirus cases in the state has reached 1,31,382 on Tuesday, according to the Department of Information and Public Relation Department of Odisha. 

Of these new cases, 2,094 patients were in quarantine and the remaining 1,396 were local contacts. The maximum number of cases has been reported from Khurda district (535) followed by Cuttack (376) and Mayurbhanj (207). 

There are 31,362 active cases, 99,398 recoveries in the state as of September 8, said the department. The State has conducted a total of 21,84,841 tests, it added.

HP reports 28 new cases, toll rises to 7,703 

Himachal Pradesh on Tuesday reported 28 new COVID-19 positive cases in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of positive cases in the state to 7,703 including 2,267 active cases, 5,366 recoveries and 57 deaths, the State Health Department said.

Andaman & Nicobar Islands tally rises to 3,359

Twenty-seven more people have tested positive for COVID-19 in Andaman and Nicobar Islands, taking the coronavirus tally in the union territory to 3,359, an official said on Tuesday.

Of the 27 new cases, 20 were detected during local contact tracing and seven were airport arrivals, the official said.

All passengers coming from the mainland have to mandatorily undergo rapid antigen test for COVID-19 at the airport here on arrival, he said.

At least 50 people recovered from COVID-19 in the last 24-hours, the official said, adding that the total number of recoveries in the union territory

Of the total 3,359 COVID-19 cases, 312 are active as 2,997 have recovered from the disease and 50 people have died of the infection, the official said.

Eight departments at U'khand Secretariat sealed after four test positive

Eight departments at the Uttarakhand Secretariat have been sealed after four people tested positive for COVID-19.

The eight sealed departments include health, agriculture and horticulture, according to sources in the Secretariat.

Among those who have tested positive for coronavirus are a secretary and a joint secretary.

Further details are awaited.  

On Sunday, two ministers of the state government were found infected with COVID-19. While Urban Development Minister Madan Kaushik has been admitted to AIIMS after he was found positive for the virus, agriculture minister Subodh Uniyal has been forced to stay in quarantine after two persons at his residence tested COVID-19 positive.

12 more succumb in Pondy; toll climbs to 337

Puducherry continued to see an upward trend in COVID-19 deaths as 12 more people died of the deadly virus on Tuesday, raising the toll in the union

territory to 337.

A release from Director of Health and Family Welfare S Mohan Kumar said 440 new cases of the viral infection were reported, pushing the overall tally to 17,749.

Of the fresh cases, as many as 4,831 were active followed by 12,581 cases of recovery and discharge.

The Director said 440 new cases were identified after examination of 2,081 samples in the last 24 hours, while 446

patients were discharged from hospitals. 

The fatality and recovery rates were 1.9 percent and 70.88 percent respectively.

Kumar said the department examined 85,906 samples so far and it was found that 66,500 of them tested negative. Results of examination of remaining samples was awaited.

43 inmates of jails in Muzaffarnagar test positive  

Forty-three inmates of two jails in Uttar Pradesh's Muzaffarnagar district have tested positive for the novel coronavirus and were moved to isolation wards in the prison complexes, officials said on Tuesday.

The fresh infections -- 22 in the district jail and 21 in a temporary jail -- took the number of infected jail inmates in the district to 400, they said.

So far, 210 inmates of the district jail and 190 in the temporary jail have tested positive for COVID-19, they said.

According to district jail superintendent Kamlesh Singh, the prison houses more than 2,700 inmates.

In view of rising cases of COVID-19 in jails, the state prison authorities have decided to establish isolation wards in all district and temporary jails.

Additional district magistrate of Muzaffarnagar Amit Singh said they have set up isolation wards in the district and temporary jails and moved the infected inmates there.

Odisha's COVID-19 tally jumps to 1,31,382 with 3,490 fresh cases

Odisha's COVID-19 tally mounted to 1,31,382 on Tuesday with 3,490 people testing positive for the disease, a health department official said.

Thirteen more fatalities pushed the state's coronavirus death toll to 569, he said.

Of the fresh fatalities, three were reported from Puri, two each from Ganjam, Mayurbhanj and Rayagada and one each from Cuttack, Kandhamal, Khurda and Subarnapur districts.

Odisha had reported its highest single-day spike of 14 COVID-19 deaths on August 29.

Ganjam district has so far accounted for 209 of the 569 fatalities in the state, followed by Khurda (77), he said.

Rajasthan: 7 more fatalities take death toll to 1,158; tally of cases rises to 93,257

Rajasthan recorded seven more fatalities due to COVID-19 on Tuesday taking the death toll to 1,158, while 721 new cases pushed the state's tally to 93,257, according to a health department bulletin.

Of the total cases, 15,632 people are under treatment and 75,223 people have been discharged, it stated.

The state capital has so far reported 290 deaths, Jodhpur 112, Bikaner 84, Kota 82, Ajmer 79, Bharatpur 72, Pali 47, Nagaur 44, Udaipur and Alwar 30 each, Barmer 23 and Dholpur 22.

The fresh 721 cases include 107 from Jaipur, 89 from Kota, 84 from Jodhpur, 69 from Alwar, 39 from Bikaner and 35 from Ajmer.

628 fresh cases, three fatalities reported in Tripura

At least 628 more people tested positive for COVID-19 in Tripura on Tuesday, raising the tally in the state to 16,157, a health department official said.

The death toll rose to 152 after three more people succumbed to the infection, he said.

 West Tripura district, of which state capital Agartala is a part, has accounted for 81 of the 152 COVID-19 deaths.

The state currently has 6,641 active cases, while 9,342 people have recovered from the disease. Twenty-two patients have migrated to other states.

A total of 3,04,761 samples have been tested for COVID-19 in Tripura so far, the official added.

2,392 new cases in Telangana; 11 deaths up toll to 906

Telangana posted 2,392 fresh coronavirus cases and 11 more deaths, taking the tally of infections to1.45 lakh in the state.

Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) accounted for the most number of cases with 304, followed by Rangareddy 191, Karimnagar 157 and Medchal Malkajgiri 132 districts, a government bulletin said on Tuesday, providing data as of 8 pm on September 7.

With 11 fatalities, the toll rose to 906, it said.

The cumulative recovered cases stood at 1.12 lakh while 31,670are under treatment. As many as60,923 samples were tested on September 7.

Cumulatively,18.27 lakh samples have been tested. The samples tested per million population was49,234, it

added.

The case fatality rate in the state was 0.62 per cent, while it was 1.69 per cent at the national level.

The recovery rate in Telangana was 77.5 per cent, while it was 77.54 per cent in the country.

The number of individuals in home or institutional isolation was 24,579.

16,429 new COVID-19 cases reported in Maharashtra

A total of 16,429 new COVID-19 cases and 423 deaths were reported in Maharashtra on Monday, taking the total number of cases to 9,23,641 in the state, Public Health Department said.

According to the official data, as many as 14,922 people were discharged after recovering from the virus on Monday.

The total number of cases in the state includes 6,59,322 recoveries and 27,027 deaths while active cases stood at 2,36,934.

The total coronavirus cases in the country reached 42,04,614 on Monday.

1,885 cases, 17 deaths reported in Madhya Pradesh

Madhya Pradesh reported 1,885 new COVID-19 cases and 17 new deaths in the last 24 hours, the state health department said on Monday.

According to it, the total number of active cases in the state currently stands at 16,961, while 1,589 have lost their lives due to the pandemic.

"1,885 new COVID-19 cases and 17 deaths reported in Madhya Pradesh in the last 24 hours, taking active cases to 16,961, recoveries to 56,909 and death toll to 1,589," the statement by the health department said.

The total coronavirus cases in the country reached 42,04,614 including 8,82,542 active cases, 32,50,429 cured/discharged/migrated and 71,642 deaths, as per the data from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

Samajwadi Party leader SRS Yadav passes away due to COVID-19

Member of Uttar Pradesh Legislative Council (MLC) and Samajwadi Party (SP) leader SRS Yadav, who was battling COVID-19 infection, died on Monday.

Samajwadi Party condoled the demise of the leader.

"The demise of the senior and respected leader of Samajwadi Party, National Secretary and MLC SRS Yadav 'Babu Ji' is the end of an 'era'. Heart wrenching and irreparable damage! Condolences to the bereaved family and prayers for the departed soul's peace! Tributes to the departed soul," the party wrote on Twitter (roughly translated from Hindi).

Party chief Akhilesh Yadav also condoled the demise of the senior party member.

"Shocked at the demise of senior SP leader, MLC and in-charge of the party office, Shri SRS Yadav Ji from COVID-19. The State has lost a dedicated socialist today. Tributes to him," Yadav wrote on Twitter.

Around 80 personnel including staff test COVID-19 positive at SVP National Police Academy in Hyderabad

Around 80 personnel including staff and officers of SVP National Police Academy have been tested positive for COVID-19 here, sources said on Monday.

According to the sources, the infected personnel were tested in a phased manner and have been quarantined accordingly. All the personnel who tested positive to Coronavirus are stable.

The staff who were tested Covid-19 positive were quarantined and were not involved in training duties. Personnel who were tested Covid-19 positive earlier will be recovered soon, it said.

The Academy conducted a Dikshant Parade to 131 IPS Probationers of 71RR (2018) batch on September 4.

9 more COVID-19 cases in Mizoram  

With nine new COVID-19 cases reported in Mizoram, the total number of coronavirus cases in the State reached 1,123 on Tuesday, according to the State Health Department.

The State has not reported any death due to the virus, said the Health Department.

There are 391 active cases while 732 patients have been discharged in the state.

According to the Ministry of Health, India's COVID-19 count stands at 42,80,423 including 8,83,697 active cases, 33,23,951 cured/discharged/migrated & 72,775 deaths.

New Delhi: With a spike of 75,809 new cases in the last 24 hours, India's COVID-19 tally surged to 42,80,423, informed the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Tuesday.

As many as 1,133 deaths were reported during the 24 hours.

The total case tally stands at 42,80,423 including 8,83,697 active cases, 33,23,951 cured/discharged/migrated & 72,775 deaths," the Health Ministry added.

Maharashtra continues to be the worst-affected State which on Monday reported 16,429 new COVID-19 cases. The State's tally of coronavirus infected cases has reached 9,23,641, according to the State Health Department.

The total number of cases in the State includes 6,59,322 recoveries and 27,027 deaths while active cases stood at 2,36,934.

The national capital has reported 2,077 new COVID-19 cases, taking the COVID-19 count to 1,93,526, said the Delhi Health Department on Monday.

The total number of samples tested up to September 7 is 5,06,50,128 including 10,98,621 samples tested yesterday, said the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR).

Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) accounted for the most number of cases with 304, followed by Rangareddy 191, Karimnagar 157 and Medchal Malkajgiri 132 districts, a government bulletin said on Tuesday, providing data as of 8 pm on September 7.

With 11 fatalities, the toll rose to 906, it said.

The cumulative recovered cases stood at 1.12 lakh while 31,670are under treatment. As many as60,923 samples were tested on September 7.

Cumulatively,18.27 lakh samples have been tested. The samples tested per million population was49,234, it

added.

The case fatality rate in the state was 0.62 per cent, while it was 1.69 per cent at the national level.

The recovery rate in Telangana was 77.5 per cent, while it was 77.54 per cent in the country.

The number of individuals in home or institutional isolation was 24,579.

16,429 new COVID-19 cases reported in Maharashtra

A total of 16,429 new COVID-19 cases and 423 deaths were reported in Maharashtra on Monday, taking the total number of cases to 9,23,641 in the state, Public Health Department said.

According to the official data, as many as 14,922 people were discharged after recovering from the virus on Monday.

The total number of cases in the state includes 6,59,322 recoveries and 27,027 deaths while active cases stood at 2,36,934.

The total coronavirus cases in the country reached 42,04,614 on Monday.

1,885 cases, 17 deaths reported in Madhya Pradesh

Madhya Pradesh reported 1,885 new COVID-19 cases and 17 new deaths in the last 24 hours, the state health department said on Monday.

According to it, the total number of active cases in the state currently stands at 16,961, while 1,589 have lost their lives due to the pandemic.

"1,885 new COVID-19 cases and 17 deaths reported in Madhya Pradesh in the last 24 hours, taking active cases to 16,961, recoveries to 56,909 and death toll to 1,589," the statement by the health department said.

The total coronavirus cases in the country reached 42,04,614 including 8,82,542 active cases, 32,50,429 cured/discharged/migrated and 71,642 deaths, as per the data from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

Samajwadi Party leader SRS Yadav passes away due to COVID-19

Member of Uttar Pradesh Legislative Council (MLC) and Samajwadi Party (SP) leader SRS Yadav, who was battling COVID-19 infection, died on Monday.

Samajwadi Party condoled the demise of the leader.

"The demise of the senior and respected leader of Samajwadi Party, National Secretary and MLC SRS Yadav 'Babu Ji' is the end of an 'era'. Heart wrenching and irreparable damage! Condolences to the bereaved family and prayers for the departed soul's peace! Tributes to the departed soul," the party wrote on Twitter (roughly translated from Hindi).

Party chief Akhilesh Yadav also condoled the demise of the senior party member.

"Shocked at the demise of senior SP leader, MLC and in-charge of the party office, Shri SRS Yadav Ji from COVID-19. The State has lost a dedicated socialist today. Tributes to him," Yadav wrote on Twitter.

Around 80 personnel including staff test COVID-19 positive at SVP National Police Academy in Hyderabad

Around 80 personnel including staff and officers of SVP National Police Academy have been tested positive for COVID-19 here, sources said on Monday.

According to the sources, the infected personnel were tested in a phased manner and have been quarantined accordingly. All the personnel who tested positive to Coronavirus are stable.

The staff who were tested Covid-19 positive were quarantined and were not involved in training duties. Personnel who were tested Covid-19 positive earlier will be recovered soon, it said.

The Academy conducted a Dikshant Parade to 131 IPS Probationers of 71RR (2018) batch on September 4.

9 more COVID-19 cases in Mizoram  

With nine new COVID-19 cases reported in Mizoram, the total number of coronavirus cases in the State reached 1,123 on Tuesday, according to the State Health Department.

The State has not reported any death due to the virus, said the Health Department.

There are 391 active cases while 732 patients have been discharged in the state.

According to the Ministry of Health, India's COVID-19 count stands at 42,80,423 including 8,83,697 active cases, 33,23,951 cured/discharged/migrated & 72,775 deaths.

COVID-19 : With spike of 75,809 cases, India's tally reaches 42,80,423

New Delhi: With a spike of 75,809 new cases in the last 24 hours, India's COVID-19 tally surged to 42,80,423, informed the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Tuesday.

As many as 1,133 deaths were reported during the 24 hours.

The total case tally stands at 42,80,423 including 8,83,697 active cases, 33,23,951 cured/discharged/migrated & 72,775 deaths," the Health Ministry added.

Maharashtra continues to be the worst-affected State which on Monday reported 16,429 new COVID-19 cases. The State's tally of coronavirus infected cases has reached 9,23,641, according to the State Health Department.

The total number of cases in the State includes 6,59,322 recoveries and 27,027 deaths while active cases stood at 2,36,934.

The national capital has reported 2,077 new COVID-19 cases, taking the COVID-19 count to 1,93,526, said the Delhi Health Department on Monday.

The total number of samples tested up to September 7 is 5,06,50,128 including 10,98,621 samples tested yesterday, said the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR).
