Odisha capital Bhubaneswar on Monday became coronavirus free with the recovery of all the 48 COVID-19 patients in the city, an official said.

Bhubaneswar, which reported the states first COVID-19 case on March 15 and Odishas first corona fatality on April 6 was declared as free from the highly infectious disease, the official said.

6 employees of OPPO mobile company's factory in Greater Noida have tested positive for COVID-19.

All operations at the factory have been suspended. The operations there had resumed on 8th May, 2020.  

As an organization that places the safety of all our employees and citizens at the forefront, we have suspended all operations at our manufacturing facility in Greater Noida and initiated COVID-19 testing for 3000+ employees, for which results are awaited.

Five more COVID-19 cases in Chandigarh, count reaches 196

Five more COVID-19 cases have been reported from Chandigarh, taking the total number of coronavirus cases in the city to 196 on Monday, the Chandigarh Administration said.

"Five positive COVID-19 cases have been reported from Bapu Dham Colony, three from one house and two from another. All are family contacts of previous cases and were asymptomatic. Total cases stand at 196," the Chandigarh Administration stated.

Out of the five cases, three are females while two are males, it added.

Security tightened at Uttarakhand inter-state borders, returnees undergoing health screening

With an increased number of people returning from other states, the Uttarakhand government has tightened security at all inter-state border check posts as a precautionary measure against COVID-19. All passengers who are arriving at the inter-state borders are also undergoing health screening.

Talking about the steps being taken at the inter-state borders, especially at the Aasarodi check post, Superintendent of Police (SP) City, Dehradun, Sweta Choubey said that, "All passengers who are arriving at the inter-state borders are being screened, random sampling has also been started there. We are taking all precautions and are monitoring each vehicle. For this, extra forces have been deployed and medical teams are also present."

Special train from Jammu arrives in Delhi, passengers appreciate arrangements  

A special train carrying passengers from Jammu Tawi Railway Station (Jammu and Kashmir) arrived at New Delhi Railway Station.

One of the passengers, Hina Jain said, "The journey was comfortable, there was no problem. All arrangements were good". Lockdown 4.0 has been imposed in the country till May 31.

Delhi govt issues fresh SOPs for handling of bodies of COVID-19 patients

Delhi Government has issued a revised order for disposal of bodies of COVID-19 patients or coronavirus suspected persons.

No sample for COVID-19 test will be taken of the body. However, if doctors are satisfied with the clinical examination that the cause of death may be COVID-19 infection, the body may be released as suspected COVID-19 infected body.

A revised order issued by Government of NCT of Delhi stated that the fresh SOPs would be managed in accordance with the COVID-19 guidelines on body management issued by Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MOHFW), Government of India.

The Standard Operating Procedures are to be followed if a person tests positive before death, a person found positive on the basis of the sample taken when he was alive, a person admitted to the hospital with severe symptoms of COVID-19 and doctors categorise him or her as a COVID-19 suspect.

Shramik train all set to cover longest distance from Andhra Pradesh to Manipur

Special Shramik train carrying North eastern migrant workers started from Andhra Pradesh to Manipur.

The train will cover longest distance of almost 2700 kms and almost 1550 passengers will reach their native places.

Krishna District Collector A.Md. Imtiaz and Andhra Pradesh DGP DG Sawang flagged off the train. Shramik trains have been running for migrant workers to reach their native places amid COVID-19 lockdown.

India records over 5,000 COVID-19 cases in single day; tally reaches 96,169

New Delhi: With the highest-ever spike of 5,242 new cases in last 24 hours, the total number of positive COVID-19 cases in India reached 96,169 on Monday, according to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

With 157 deaths reported in the last 24 hours, the death toll has risen to 3,029, as per the latest update by the ministry.

Out of the total number of cases, 36,824 have been cured/discharged/migrated.

This comes a day after the nationwide lockdown, imposed as a precautionary measure to contain the spread of COVID-19, was extended till May 31.

Maharashtra remains the worst-affected state due to the virus with 33,053 cases, including 1,198 deaths. It is followed by Gujarat (11,379), Tamil Nadu (11,224) and Delhi (10,054).

Five more COVID-19 cases in Chandigarh, count reaches 196

Five more COVID-19 cases have been reported from Chandigarh, taking the total number of coronavirus cases in the city to 196 on Monday, the Chandigarh Administration said.

"Five positive COVID-19 cases have been reported from Bapu Dham Colony, three from one house and two from another. All are family contacts of previous cases and were asymptomatic. Total cases stand at 196," the Chandigarh Administration stated.

Out of the five cases, three are females while two are males, it added.

Security tightened at Uttarakhand inter-state borders, returnees undergoing health screening

With an increased number of people returning from other states, the Uttarakhand government has tightened security at all inter-state border check posts as a precautionary measure against COVID-19. All passengers who are arriving at the inter-state borders are also undergoing health screening.

Talking about the steps being taken at the inter-state borders, especially at the Aasarodi check post, Superintendent of Police (SP) City, Dehradun, Sweta Choubey said that, "All passengers who are arriving at the inter-state borders are being screened, random sampling has also been started there. We are taking all precautions and are monitoring each vehicle. For this, extra forces have been deployed and medical teams are also present."

Special train from Jammu arrives in Delhi, passengers appreciate arrangements  

A special train carrying passengers from Jammu Tawi Railway Station (Jammu and Kashmir) arrived at New Delhi Railway Station.

One of the passengers, Hina Jain said, "The journey was comfortable, there was no problem. All arrangements were good". Lockdown 4.0 has been imposed in the country till May 31.

Delhi govt issues fresh SOPs for handling of bodies of COVID-19 patients

Delhi Government has issued a revised order for disposal of bodies of COVID-19 patients or coronavirus suspected persons.

No sample for COVID-19 test will be taken of the body. However, if doctors are satisfied with the clinical examination that the cause of death may be COVID-19 infection, the body may be released as suspected COVID-19 infected body.

A revised order issued by Government of NCT of Delhi stated that the fresh SOPs would be managed in accordance with the COVID-19 guidelines on body management issued by Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MOHFW), Government of India.

The Standard Operating Procedures are to be followed if a person tests positive before death, a person found positive on the basis of the sample taken when he was alive, a person admitted to the hospital with severe symptoms of COVID-19 and doctors categorise him or her as a COVID-19 suspect.

Shramik train all set to cover longest distance from Andhra Pradesh to Manipur

Special Shramik train carrying North eastern migrant workers started from Andhra Pradesh to Manipur.

The train will cover longest distance of almost 2700 kms and almost 1550 passengers will reach their native places.

Krishna District Collector A.Md. Imtiaz and Andhra Pradesh DGP DG Sawang flagged off the train. Shramik trains have been running for migrant workers to reach their native places amid COVID-19 lockdown.

COVID-19: Curfew extended in Himachal Pradesh till May 31, says Jairam Thakur

Curfew will extend in Himachal Pradesh till 31st May due to coronavirus pandemic.

Chief Minister of the state, Jairam Thakur said, "The cases of coronavirus are growing rapidly in the whole country. Even, the cases have increased in Himachal Pradesh too. Lockdown 4.0 will start from tomorrow (18th May), we have decided that we will continue the curfew imposed in Himachal Pradesh till 31st May."

India records over 5,000 COVID-19 cases in single day; tally reaches 96,169

New Delhi: With the highest-ever spike of 5,242 new cases in last 24 hours, the total number of positive COVID-19 cases in India reached 96,169 on Monday, according to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

With 157 deaths reported in the last 24 hours, the death toll has risen to 3,029, as per the latest update by the ministry.

Out of the total number of cases, 36,824 have been cured/discharged/migrated.

This comes a day after the nationwide lockdown, imposed as a precautionary measure to contain the spread of COVID-19, was extended till May 31.

Maharashtra remains the worst-affected state due to the virus with 33,053 cases, including 1,198 deaths. It is followed by Gujarat (11,379), Tamil Nadu (11,224) and Delhi (10,054).
