Andhra Pradesh's COVID-19 tally increased to 6,87,351 as 6,190 more cases were added on Monday, while 35 deaths took the fatalities to 5,780.
Also, the overall infection positivity rate dropped below the 12 per cent mark for the first time in over two months, standing at 11.99 per cent on Tuesday after a gross 57.34 lakh samples were tested so far.
The total recoveries also rose to 6,22,136 as 9,836 patients got cured in the last 24 hours, ending 9 AM on Tuesday, according to the latest bulletin.
Another 35 coronavirus patients succumbed, taking the overall toll to 5,780.

3 fresh fatalities take Meghalaya's death toll to 46
The COVID-19 death toll in Meghalaya rose to 46 with three more persons succumbing to the disease, Health and Family Welfare Minister Alexander Laloo Hek said.
The tally went up to 5,362 after 60 people tested positive for the infection, the minister said.
Hek also said that 12 patients were cured of coronavirus taking the number of recovered people to 3,868.
The state has 1,448 active cases now.

Sisodia tests negative for COVID-19, discharged from hospital
Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, who was suffering from COVID-19 and dengue, was discharged from hospital today, officials said.
Sisodia, 48, was shifted to a hospital in Saket on Thursday evening, considering his "falling" blood platelet count and low oxygen level.
He was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit of the private health facility in south Delhi and later administered plasma therapy.

Uttar Pradesh reported 63 deaths due to COVID-19 on today, pushing the death toll to 5,715, while 4,069 fresh cases took the tally to 3,84,856.

351 Jagannath Temple servitors test positive for COVID-19
At least 351 servitors and 53 employees of Shree Jagannath Temple have tested positive for COVID-19, an official said.
A total of 404 persons engaged in the 12th-century shrine have tested positive for the virus, said Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) administrator Ajay Jena.
He said that the Lord Jagannath's rituals, however, are continuing as usual despite the absence of so many servitors.
The Jagannath Temple is closed for devotees since March due to the pandemic.

With 70K new cases, India's case tally crosses 61 lakh
With a spike of 70,589 coronavirus cases and 776 deaths in 24 hours, India's tally on Tuesday breached the 61 lakh-mark with a total of 61,45,291 cases.
Out of these, 9,47,576 are currently active; 51,01,397 have been discharged, while 96,318 lost the battle against the viral disease.
On July 17, India had logged 10 lakh cases, which then doubled to 20 lakh on August 7. The country added another 10 lakh on August 23 and went past 40 lakh on September 5.
In 11 days, it added another 10 lakh cases thus taking the total to 50 lakh cases.
Thirteen days later the tally has mounted to 61 lakh.

Chhattisgarh adds 3,725 new cases; 13 die
Chhattisgarh on Monday reported 3,725 new COVID-19 cases and 13 fatalities, taking the total tally to 1,08,458 and the toll to 877, a health official said.
The cumulative count of recoveries went up to 74,537 with 562 people being discharged from various hospitals while 1,355 patients completed their home isolation during the day.
The state now has 33,044 active cases, the official said.
The worst-hit Raipur district reported 590 fresh cases, Durg 519, Janjgir-Champa 240, Raigarh 218, Korba 178 and Bastar 169, among other districts, he said.
Of the 13 fatalities, nine occurred on Monday and four on Sunday, he said.
The state recorded over 81,000 COVID-19 cases in the last one month, the official said.
With total 32,829 cases, Raipur district tops the tally in the state and has recorded 408 deaths, he added.

9 new cases push COVID-19 tally of Andamans to 3,803
The COVID-19 tally of Andaman and Nicobar Islands rose to 3,803 on Tuesday as nine more people tested positive for the infection, a health official said.
All the nine COVID-19 patients were detected during contact tracing, the official said.
Twenty-nine more people have recovered from the disease, he said.
There are now 168 active coronavirus cases in the archipelago, while 3,582 people have been cured of the disease and 53 people have died of the infection so far, he said.
The administration has so far sent 57,343 samples for COVID-19 tests, of which 132 reports are awaited while the remaining results have been received, the official added.

Sikkim reports 25 new cases, 2 fresh fatalities
Sikkim's COVID-19 tally rose to 2,816 on Monday as 25 more people tested positive for the infection, while two fresh fatalities pushed the Himalayan state's coronavirus death toll to 35, an official said.
East Sikkim district reported 20 new cases, while five fresh infections were registered in South Sikkim, state IEC member Sonam Bhutia said.
The Himalayan state now has 698 active coronavirus cases, while 2,083 people have been cured of the disease so far, the official said.
Sikkim has tested 49,495 samples for COVID-19 so far, Bhutia added.

As COVID spikes, Kerala tightens safety protocols
With COVID cases spiking in Kerala as the total positive cases doubled in 20 days, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said the only way out is to enforce very strict protocols.
"Kerala which had a low indicator of cases per million today stands at 5,143 cases per million, while the national average is 5,882. This was not the case before. But the good thing is the fatality rate is 0.4 per cent as compared to the national average of 1.6 per cent," said Vijayan after a high-level COVID review meeting.
So far Kerala has recorded 1,79,922 positive cases of which at present active cases stand at 57,879.
"On Monday 4,538 people turned COVID positive and 36,027 samples were tested. Since there was a review meeting, the day's full figures have not been reflected and the rest will be coming tomorrow," said Vijayan and added that a virtual all-party meeting has been called on Tuesday.

Andhra logs fewer cases amid 7,000 recoveries
Andhra Pradesh has registered fewer COVID positive cases at 5,487, increasing the state's tally to 6.81 lakh, even as 7,210 more recoveries outnumbered infections on Monday.
East Godavari district continues to be the epicentre of the pandemic, recording 1,010 new infections, swelling the total number of cases in the district to 95,200.
Among other places, West Godavari accounted for 903 new infections, followed by Prakasam (634), Guntur (538), Nellore (489), Vizianagaram (362), Chittoor (329) and Anantapur (310).

15 MLAs test positive in Odisha
At least 15 MLAs including Deputy Speaker Rajanikant Singh and three ministers have tested positive for COVID-19 ahead of the monsoon session of the Odisha Legislative Assembly starting on Tuesday, official sources said on Monday.
The MLAs underwent Covid-19 test on two days at the Assembly premises, ahead of the commencement of the Assembly session.

Cases in Telangana drop with fewer tests
Covid-19 cases in Telangana dropped on Monday with a dip in the number of tests conducted over the weekend.
The state reported 1,378 new cases as authorities conducted 35,465 tests against 50,000-60,000 tests done daily on working days.
With the fresh cases, the state's tally mounted to 1,87,211. Seven people succumbed to the virus during the last 24 hours, taking the toll to 1,107.
The fatality rate in the state remains at 0.59 per cent against the national average of 1.57 per cent.
The period saw more recoveries than the new cases. A total of 1,932 patients recovered, taking the cumulative recoveries to 1,56,431.
The recovery rate has gone up further to 83.55 per cent against the national average of 82.53 per cent.
The number of active cases in the state stands at 29,673 including 24,054 in home/institutional isolation.

AP minister Vellampalli Srinivas Rao positive
Andhra Pradesh Endowments Minister Vellampalli Srinivas Rao has tested positive for coronavirus, however, he is currently fine.
"Rao tested positive for coronavirus on Sunday evening. He is admitted in a hospital and everything is normal," an official said.
Doctors performed 10 to 15 tests on the minister to check his health condition, all of which returned normal.
"He is doing absolutely fine," said the official.
Rao was busy monitoring the situation after the Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy temple chariot blaze in Antarvedi in East Godavari district.
Later, he was busy with the Brahmostavams at the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) in Tirupati.

Jharkhand Education Minister tests positive
Jharkhand Education Minister Jaggarnath Mahto has tested coronavirus positive on Monday.
He has been admitted at Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Ranchi for treatment. Initially, he was suffering from breathing problem. He was admitted in Intensive care Unit (ICU) for treatment and later shifted to the COVID ward.
"The minister's condition is stable. He has been put on high flow of oxygen support system. We are watching his condition. After improvement in health condition his CT scan will be done," said Dr Nisith Ekka, posted in COVID task department of RIMS.
Two years ago the Education Minister had suffered a heart attack. His angioplasty was done in 2018.

The Information and Public Relations Department said 540 new cases were recorded in Jammu division and 284 in Kashmir division. The Union Territory's total tally is 73,014.
