Doctor admitted to Delhi hospital over coronavirus fears
A doctor suspected of suffering from coronavirus was admitted to a Delhi hospital, an official said here on Wednesday.
He was taken to the same hospital where he worked from his flat in Ghaziabad around 9.30 pm on Tuesday night, Chief Medical Officer Dr N K Gupta said.
The area was sanitised after getting information, Gupta added.

Three more die of COVID-19 in UP; total cases 727
Uttar Pradesh reported 67 fresh coronavirus cases and three fatalities on Wednesday, taking the total number of COVID-19 patients to 727 and the death toll in the state to 11, an official said.
Among the latest deaths, one each was reported from Lucknow, Agra and Kanpur, he said.
Out of the eight cases, three were reported from Agra, one each from Basti, Meerut, Bulanshahr, Varanasi and Moradabad.
"Total 727 cases of coronavirus have been confirmed in the state in 44 districts, of them 55 patients have been treated and discharged," Principal Secretary, Health, Amit Mohan Prasad told reporters.
He said presently 10,661 patients are kept in quarantine facility.
The health department study showed that 46.5 per cent cases are between the age group of 21-40 years, followed by 41-60 years of age group that has 26 per cent cases, the official said.

Dead man's sample tests positive for coronavirus in Akola
Samples of a 45-year-old man, who died at the Government Medical College and Hospital in Maharashtra's Akola city a day back, came out positive for coronavirus on Wednesday, an official said.
The patient, suffering from diabetes, high blood pressure and cough, was admitted to the GMCH on Monday, and as a precautionary measure, his throat swabs were sent for testing, deputy dean of the college Dr Kusumakar Ghorpade said.
However, the patient died during treatment on the same day, he said, adding that when the test results came in on Wednesday, the man was found to be positive.

COVID cases rise to 190 in Haryana
Coronavirus cases in Haryana rose to 190 on Wednesday, with six more persons testing positive for infection in various parts of the state.

69-year-old man dies of COVID-19 in Bengaluru, state toll climbs to 11
A 69 year-old man from Chikkaballapur, became the eleventh COVID-19 related fatality in Karnataka, where 17 new positive cases have been confirmed, taking the total number of infections in the state to 277, the health department said on Wednesday.
The elderly patient was referred from a private hospital here to a COVID-19 designated hospital April 13 with complaint of H1N1 positive, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease with obstructive sleep apnea and history of uncontrolled diabetes mellitus, hypertension, the department said in its mid-day situation update.
He expired early this morning, it said. Earlier confirming the man's death, Health Minister Sriramulu in a tweet said, the body is at Bengaluru's Victoria Hospital, and the department was preparing for last rites as per the central government rules.
According to the department, 17 new positive cases have been reported from last evening to this noon in the state. "Till date 277 COVID-19 positive cases have been confirmed. This includes 11 deaths and 75 discharges," it said.

COVID-19 cases cross 500 mark in AP, 19 new cases reported
Coronavirus cases shot past the 500 mark in Andhra Pradesh on Wednesday, reaching 502, as 19 new cases were reported overnight even as two more deaths were added to the tally on account of the pandemic, taking the overall toll to 11.
Of the new cases, eight were recorded in West Godavari district, six in Kurnool, four in Guntur and one in Krishna since Tuesday 5 pm, the latest bulletin from the government said.
The number of patients recovered and discharged remained at 16 and the active cases 475. In all, 11,613 blood samples were tested across the state till date and 11,111 of them turned negative.
The two deaths, of men aged 63 and 52 years, were reported from Guntur city on April 13, the bulletin said.

COVID-19 cases in Indore rise to 544
The total number of coronavirus cases in Indore went up to 544 after 117 new cases were reported from the Madhya Pradesh city on Wednesday, an official said.
Till late Tuesday night, the state's industrial hub reported 427 COVID-19 cases.
"A report from a Delhi-based laboratory has found 117 more people of Indore infected with the coronavirus. Now, the number of COVID-19 cases in the city has gone up to 544. Of these, 37 patients have so far died during treatment," Chief Medical and Health Officer (CMHO) Praveen Jadia said.
An analysis of the data shows that till Wednesday morning, the death rate of COVID-19 patients in the city was around 6.8 per cent, higher than the national average.
"Most of the new patients from Indore are either relatives or close acquaintances of people who earlier tested positive for coronavirus. All those who came in contact with these patients have already been isolated as a precaution," Jadia said.
So far, 37 people have been discharged after recovery, he said.
The local administration has imposed curfew in urban limits since March 25 after the first coronavirus patients were found in the city.

Two more persons died of coronavirus in Gujarat, taking the death toll in the state to 30, the state health department said on Wednesday.

45 fresh positive cases reported in Uttar Pradesh
Forty-five more people tested positive for coronavirus in Uttar Pradesh today morning.
The samples of 806 people had been collected on Tuesday from different districts, out of which 45 have tested positive for the virus, informed King George's Medical University, Lucknow.
According to the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the total number of positive coronavirus cases in Uttar Pradesh is 660. Till now, 50 people have been cured and discharged, while five deaths have been reported.
The total number of positive coronavirus cases across the country is 11,439, including 9,756 active cases. So far, 1,305 patients have been cured and discharged while 377 deaths have been recorded, as per data provided by the Ministry of Health.

53,865 people examined in Amritsar for COVID-19
A door-to-door screening against COVID-19 was carried out in Punjab's holy city Amritsar during which 53,865 people were examined in the past three days, an official said on Wednesday.
"Hotspot areas from where positive cases of Nirmal Singh and Jaswinder Singh had come were covered", Special Chief Secretary K.B.S. Sidhu, who is in-charge to monitor statewide coronavirus cases, informed in a tweet.
Nirmal Singh and Jaswinder Singh were among the 11 coronavirus cases reported in the city. Both succumbed to COVID-19.
They include Jodh Nagar, ESI Hospital vicinity, Kangra Colony and Mustafabad.
The massive operation covered 12,401 households.
One suspected case was found, whose test report has come out to be negative, he said.
The whole operation was conducted by 42 teams, managed by 10 supervisory officers.

Coronavirus death toll rises to 377
The death toll due to coronavirus rose to 377 while the number of cases in the country climbed to 11,439 on Wednesday, according to the Union Health Ministry.
While the number of active COVID-19 cases stood at 9,756, as many as 1305 people have been cured and discharged, and one had migrated, it said.
The total number of cases include 76 foreign nationals.
As many as 24 deaths have been reported since Tuesday evening, of which 18 were reported from Maharashtra, two each from Delhi and Gujarat, one each from Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.
Of the total 377 deaths, Maharashtra tops the tally with 178 deaths, followed by Madhya Pradesh at 50, Delhi at 30, Gujarat at 28 and Telangana at 17. Punjab and Tamil Nadu have reported 12 deaths each. Karnataka has reported 10 fatalities while Andhra Pradesh reported nine deaths.
West Bengal has reported seven deaths while five people have lost their lives in Uttar Pradesh.
Jammu and Kashmir has reported four fatalities each while Kerala, Haryana and Rajasthan have recorded three deaths each. Jharkhand has reported two deaths.
Bihar, Himachal Pradesh, Odisha and Assam reported one fatality each, according to the health ministry data.
However, a tally of figures reported by various states as on Tuesday evening showed 389 deaths.
There has been a lag in the Union Health Ministry figures, compared to the number of deaths announced by different states, which officials attribute to procedural delays in assigning the cases to individual states.
According to the ministry's data updated in the morning, the highest number of confirmed cases in the country are from Maharashtra at 2,687 followed by Delhi at 1,561 and Tamil Nadu at 1,204.
COVID-19 cases have gone up to 969 in Rajasthan followed by 730 in Madhya Pradesh, 660 in Uttar Pradesh and 650 in Gujarat.
Telangana has 624 cases, followed by Andhra Pradesh at 483 and Kerala at 387.
The number of novel coronavirus cases has risen to 278 in Jammu and Kashmir, 260 in Karnataka, 213 in West Bengal and 199 in Haryana. Punjab has reported 176 infections so far.
Bihar has reported 66 cases, while Odisha has 60 coronavirus cases. Thirty-seven people were infected with the virus in Uttarakhand, while Himachal Pradesh and Chhattisgarh have reported 33 cases each followed by Assam with 32 cases.
Jharkhand has 27 cases, Chandigarh has 21 cases and Ladakh has 17, while 11 cases have been reported from the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
Goa and Puducherry have reported seven COVID-19 infections each, Manipur and Tripura have two cases each, while Mizoram, Arunachal Pradesh and Meghalaya have reported a case each.
"State-wise distribution is subject to further verification and reconciliation," the ministry said on its website.
The website also mentions that the patient from Nagaland has been shifted to Assam.

Five new COVID-19 cases in Dharavi; slum area tally 60
Five more persons tested positive to coronavirus in Dharavi, taking the total number of such cases in Mumbai's slum area to 60, a senior civic official said on Wednesday.
All the new patients - three males and two females - are from the Mukund Nagar locality of Dharavi.
"Contact-tracing of high risk contacts of new patients is under progress," the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation official said.
So far, seven COVID-19 patients from Dharavi have died.

29 new cases reported in Rajasthan, total climbs to 1034
Rajasthan recorded 29 more cases of coronavirus on Wednesday, taking the tally in the state to 1,034, an official said.
The virus has so far claimed 11 lives in the state.
"As many as 29 new cases have come up today- 15 in Jaipur and seven each in Jodhpur and Kota," Additional Chief Secretary Rohit Kumar Singh said.
He said the total number of coronavirus positive cases in the state has risen to 1,034.
Among the coronavirus cases in Rajasthan are two Italian citizens and 54 people who were brought back from Iran and admitted to Army health centres in Jodhpur and Jaisalmer.
Jaipur has reported the highest number of 468 cases in the state, followed by 102 in Jodhpur, 64 in Kota and 59 in Banswara.
Rajasthan is under a strict lockdown from March 22 and a massive survey and screening is underway to trace the contagion.

Meghalaya reports first COVID-19 death, 69-year-old doctor dies of disease: CM Conrad Sangma
The lone COVID-19 patient in Meghalaya died on Wednesday morning, Chief Minister Conrad Sangma said.
Sixty nine-year-old Dr John L Sailo Ryntathiang, the founder of Bethany Hospital, died at 2.45 am in the morning, a family member said.
Dr Sailo had tested positive for the coronavirus on Monday evening.
"I am saddened to inform that the first COVID19 positive patient in Meghalaya passed away this morning at 2.45 am. My heartfelt condolences to his family and loved ones. May his soul rest in peace," the chief minister tweeted.

Doctor admitted to Delhi hospital over coronavirus fears
A doctor suspected of suffering from coronavirus was admitted to a Delhi hospital, an official said here on Wednesday.
He was taken to the same hospital where he worked from his flat in Ghaziabad around 9.30 pm on Tuesday night, Chief Medical Officer Dr N K Gupta said.
The area was sanitised after getting information, Gupta added.

Three more die of COVID-19 in UP; total cases 727
Uttar Pradesh reported 67 fresh coronavirus cases and three fatalities on Wednesday, taking the total number of COVID-19 patients to 727 and the death toll in the state to 11, an official said.
Among the latest deaths, one each was reported from Lucknow, Agra and Kanpur, he said.
Out of the eight cases, three were reported from Agra, one each from Basti, Meerut, Bulanshahr, Varanasi and Moradabad.
"Total 727 cases of coronavirus have been confirmed in the state in 44 districts, of them 55 patients have been treated and discharged," Principal Secretary, Health, Amit Mohan Prasad told reporters.
He said presently 10,661 patients are kept in quarantine facility.
The health department study showed that 46.5 per cent cases are between the age group of 21-40 years, followed by 41-60 years of age group that has 26 per cent cases, the official said.

Dead man's sample tests positive for coronavirus in Akola
Samples of a 45-year-old man, who died at the Government Medical College and Hospital in Maharashtra's Akola city a day back, came out positive for coronavirus on Wednesday, an official said.
The patient, suffering from diabetes, high blood pressure and cough, was admitted to the GMCH on Monday, and as a precautionary measure, his throat swabs were sent for testing, deputy dean of the college Dr Kusumakar Ghorpade said.
However, the patient died during treatment on the same day, he said, adding that when the test results came in on Wednesday, the man was found to be positive.

COVID cases rise to 190 in Haryana
Coronavirus cases in Haryana rose to 190 on Wednesday, with six more persons testing positive for infection in various parts of the state.

69-year-old man dies of COVID-19 in Bengaluru, state toll climbs to 11
A 69 year-old man from Chikkaballapur, became the eleventh COVID-19 related fatality in Karnataka, where 17 new positive cases have been confirmed, taking the total number of infections in the state to 277, the health department said on Wednesday.
The elderly patient was referred from a private hospital here to a COVID-19 designated hospital April 13 with complaint of H1N1 positive, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease with obstructive sleep apnea and history of uncontrolled diabetes mellitus, hypertension, the department said in its mid-day situation update.
He expired early this morning, it said. Earlier confirming the man's death, Health Minister Sriramulu in a tweet said, the body is at Bengaluru's Victoria Hospital, and the department was preparing for last rites as per the central government rules.
According to the department, 17 new positive cases have been reported from last evening to this noon in the state. "Till date 277 COVID-19 positive cases have been confirmed. This includes 11 deaths and 75 discharges," it said.

COVID-19 cases cross 500 mark in AP, 19 new cases reported
Coronavirus cases shot past the 500 mark in Andhra Pradesh on Wednesday, reaching 502, as 19 new cases were reported overnight even as two more deaths were added to the tally on account of the pandemic, taking the overall toll to 11.
Of the new cases, eight were recorded in West Godavari district, six in Kurnool, four in Guntur and one in Krishna since Tuesday 5 pm, the latest bulletin from the government said.
The number of patients recovered and discharged remained at 16 and the active cases 475. In all, 11,613 blood samples were tested across the state till date and 11,111 of them turned negative.
The two deaths, of men aged 63 and 52 years, were reported from Guntur city on April 13, the bulletin said.

COVID-19 cases in Indore rise to 544
The total number of coronavirus cases in Indore went up to 544 after 117 new cases were reported from the Madhya Pradesh city on Wednesday, an official said.
Till late Tuesday night, the state's industrial hub reported 427 COVID-19 cases.
"A report from a Delhi-based laboratory has found 117 more people of Indore infected with the coronavirus. Now, the number of COVID-19 cases in the city has gone up to 544. Of these, 37 patients have so far died during treatment," Chief Medical and Health Officer (CMHO) Praveen Jadia said.
An analysis of the data shows that till Wednesday morning, the death rate of COVID-19 patients in the city was around 6.8 per cent, higher than the national average.
"Most of the new patients from Indore are either relatives or close acquaintances of people who earlier tested positive for coronavirus. All those who came in contact with these patients have already been isolated as a precaution," Jadia said.
So far, 37 people have been discharged after recovery, he said.
The local administration has imposed curfew in urban limits since March 25 after the first coronavirus patients were found in the city.

Two more persons died of coronavirus in Gujarat, taking the death toll in the state to 30, the state health department said on Wednesday.

45 fresh positive cases reported in Uttar Pradesh
Forty-five more people tested positive for coronavirus in Uttar Pradesh today morning.
The samples of 806 people had been collected on Tuesday from different districts, out of which 45 have tested positive for the virus, informed King George's Medical University, Lucknow.
According to the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the total number of positive coronavirus cases in Uttar Pradesh is 660. Till now, 50 people have been cured and discharged, while five deaths have been reported.

53,865 people examined in Amritsar for COVID-19
A door-to-door screening against COVID-19 was carried out in Punjab's holy city Amritsar during which 53,865 people were examined in the past three days, an official said on Wednesday.
"Hotspot areas from where positive cases of Nirmal Singh and Jaswinder Singh had come were covered", Special Chief Secretary K.B.S. Sidhu, who is in-charge to monitor statewide coronavirus cases, informed in a tweet.
Nirmal Singh and Jaswinder Singh were among the 11 coronavirus cases reported in the city. Both succumbed to COVID-19.
They include Jodh Nagar, ESI Hospital vicinity, Kangra Colony and Mustafabad.
The massive operation covered 12,401 households.
One suspected case was found, whose test report has come out to be negative, he said.
The whole operation was conducted by 42 teams, managed by 10 supervisory officers.

Coronavirus death toll rises to 377
The death toll due to coronavirus rose to 377 while the number of cases in the country climbed to 11,439 on Wednesday, according to the Union Health Ministry.
While the number of active COVID-19 cases stood at 9,756, as many as 1305 people have been cured and discharged, and one had migrated, it said.
The total number of cases include 76 foreign nationals.
As many as 24 deaths have been reported since Tuesday evening, of which 18 were reported from Maharashtra, two each from Delhi and Gujarat, one each from Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.
Of the total 377 deaths, Maharashtra tops the tally with 178 deaths, followed by Madhya Pradesh at 50, Delhi at 30, Gujarat at 28 and Telangana at 17. Punjab and Tamil Nadu have reported 12 deaths each. Karnataka has reported 10 fatalities while Andhra Pradesh reported nine deaths.
West Bengal has reported seven deaths while five people have lost their lives in Uttar Pradesh.
Jammu and Kashmir has reported four fatalities each while Kerala, Haryana and Rajasthan have recorded three deaths each. Jharkhand has reported two deaths.
Bihar, Himachal Pradesh, Odisha and Assam reported one fatality each, according to the health ministry data.
However, a tally of figures reported by various states as on Tuesday evening showed 389 deaths.
There has been a lag in the Union Health Ministry figures, compared to the number of deaths announced by different states, which officials attribute to procedural delays in assigning the cases to individual states.
According to the ministry's data updated in the morning, the highest number of confirmed cases in the country are from Maharashtra at 2,687 followed by Delhi at 1,561 and Tamil Nadu at 1,204.
COVID-19 cases have gone up to 969 in Rajasthan followed by 730 in Madhya Pradesh, 660 in Uttar Pradesh and 650 in Gujarat.
Telangana has 624 cases, followed by Andhra Pradesh at 483 and Kerala at 387.
The number of novel coronavirus cases has risen to 278 in Jammu and Kashmir, 260 in Karnataka, 213 in West Bengal and 199 in Haryana. Punjab has reported 176 infections so far.
Bihar has reported 66 cases, while Odisha has 60 coronavirus cases. Thirty-seven people were infected with the virus in Uttarakhand, while Himachal Pradesh and Chhattisgarh have reported 33 cases each followed by Assam with 32 cases.
Jharkhand has 27 cases, Chandigarh has 21 cases and Ladakh has 17, while 11 cases have been reported from the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
Goa and Puducherry have reported seven COVID-19 infections each, Manipur and Tripura have two cases each, while Mizoram, Arunachal Pradesh and Meghalaya have reported a case each.
"State-wise distribution is subject to further verification and reconciliation," the ministry said on its website.
The website also mentions that the patient from Nagaland has been shifted to Assam.

Five new COVID-19 cases in Dharavi; slum area tally 60
Five more persons tested positive to coronavirus in Dharavi, taking the total number of such cases in Mumbai's slum area to 60, a senior civic official said on Wednesday.
All the new patients - three males and two females - are from the Mukund Nagar locality of Dharavi.
"Contact-tracing of high risk contacts of new patients is under progress," the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation official said.
So far, seven COVID-19 patients from Dharavi have died.
Dharavi is one the biggest slum areas in Asia.

29 new cases reported in Rajasthan, total climbs to 1034
Rajasthan recorded 29 more cases of coronavirus on Wednesday, taking the tally in the state to 1,034, an official said.
The virus has so far claimed 11 lives in the state.
"As many as 29 new cases have come up today- 15 in Jaipur and seven each in Jodhpur and Kota," Additional Chief Secretary Rohit Kumar Singh said.
He said the total number of coronavirus positive cases in the state has risen to 1,034.
Among the coronavirus cases in Rajasthan are two Italian citizens and 54 people who were brought back from Iran and admitted to Army health centres in Jodhpur and Jaisalmer.
Jaipur has reported the highest number of 468 cases in the state, followed by 102 in Jodhpur, 64 in Kota and 59 in Banswara.
Rajasthan is under a strict lockdown from March 22 and a massive survey and screening is underway to trace the contagion.

Meghalaya reports first COVID-19 death, 69-year-old doctor dies of disease: CM Conrad Sangma
The lone COVID-19 patient in Meghalaya died on Wednesday morning, Chief Minister Conrad Sangma said.
Sixty nine-year-old Dr John L Sailo Ryntathiang, the founder of Bethany Hospital, died at 2.45 am in the morning, a family member said.
Dr Sailo had tested positive for the coronavirus on Monday evening.
"I am saddened to inform that the first COVID19 positive patient in Meghalaya passed away this morning at 2.45 am. My heartfelt condolences to his family and loved ones. May his soul rest in peace," the chief minister tweeted.
