489 new coronavirus cases in Goa, 415 patients recover

 Goa's COVID-19 case count went up to 37,591 on Friday with the addition of 489 cases, an official said. As seven patients succumbed to the infection, the

number of fatalities rose to 491, he said.

As many as 415 patients were discharged from hospitals during the day. This took the state's recovery count to 32,317, the official said. A total of 1,843samples were tested during the day, he added.

1,250 new COVID-19 cases in Haryana; 14 more die

Haryana recorded 1,250 fresh COVID-19 cases taking the infection tally to 1,39,932 on Friday, while 14 more coronavirus fatalities pushed the state's death toll to 1,562, the Health department said.

Of the latest coronavirus fatalities, three deaths were reported in Panipat, two each in Gurugram, Hisar, Jhajjar and Yamunanagar, while one death each was reported in Ambala, Rohtak and Bhiwani, according to the state health department's daily bulletin.

The districts which reported new cases include Gurugram (261), Faridabad (153), and Hisar (108), it said. There are 10,830 active cases in the state as of now, while the recovery rate was 91.14 per cent, the bulletin said.

Punjab CM Amarinder Singh tests negative for COVID-19

Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh on Friday tested negative for COVID-19, days after he shared the stage with Health Minister Balbir Singh Sidhu who has tested positive for the virus.

"Punjab CM@capt_amarinder's RT-PCR & RAT (Rapid Antigen Test) #COVID19 tests have both tested negative.

"He had shared the stage with his cabinet colleague Balbir Singh Sidhu, who had later tested Covid positive earlier this week," Amarinder Singh's media advisr Raveen Thukral tweeted Friday evening.

Sidhu had recently also shared the stage with Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. The health minister tested positive for coronavirus on Tuesday. Sidhu was in Sangrur on Monday for "Kheti Bachao Yatra" to take part in a protest against the new farm laws.

The event was also attended by Gandhi, Amarinder Singh and other senior Congress leaders. Gandhi had led a series of "tractor rallies" in the state for three days against the new legislations. On Tuesday afternoon, he entered neighbouring Haryana to continue with the protests.

Over 700 more test COVID positive in U'khand

Uttarakhand's COVID-19 tally on Friday rose to 54,063 after the state reported 704 fresh cases, while 14 more infected people died at different hospitals. Dehradun district reported the highest 242 cases, Nainital 73, Rudraprayag 70, Pauri 66, Udham Singh Nagar 66, Haridwar 50, Uttarkashi 31, Pithoragarh and Bageshwar 20 each, Champawat 19, Tehri 18 and Almora 17, a state health department bulletin said.

With the new fatalities, the state's COVID-19 death toll has risen to 716, the bulletin said. So far, 45,774 people have recovered and 284 migrated. The state now has 7,289 active COVID-19 cases, it said.

TN records 5,185 new COVID-19 cases; testing of daily samples inches towards 1 lakh mark
 

Tamil Nadu on Friday reported 5,185 new COVID-19 cases, taking the tally to 6,46,128, while the death toll mounted 10,120 with 68 fatalities. Testing of samples inched towards the one lakh mark with 97,087 being done, aggregating to 81,41,534 so far.
 

The number of recoveries outnumbered new infections. The active cases stood at 44,197, with 5,357 patients getting discharged from various hospitals and cumulatively 5,91,811 people have got cured, the health department said in a bulletin.

death toll to 9,789, the health department said.
          

This is the third consecutive day that the state has reported over 10,000 new infections.

Single-day recoveries surpass fresh COVID-19 cases in Bihar
         

Single-day recoveries outnumbered new COVID-19 cases in Bihar on Friday as 1,424 people were cured of the infection and 1,155 tested positive for the
disease, a health department bulletin said.
         

The recovery rate among coronavirus patients in the state is currently at 93.79 per cent, up marginally from 93.61
per cent on Thursday. The fresh infections have increased the state's caseload to 1,93,825, the bulletin said.

Bengal reports record 3,573 new COVID-19 cases, 62 more deaths
         

West Bengal on Friday recorded the highest single-day spike of 3,573 new COVID-19 cases, taking its tally to 2,87,603, as per a bulletin issued by the
Health Department.
         

The toll rose to 5,501 with 62 more deaths, it said. In the last 24 hours, 3,069 people recovered from COVID-19, following which the discharge rate further slipped
to 87.90 per cent.

Maha govt postpones MPSC exam due to COVID

"The state government has decided to postpone the Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) exam in the wake of COVID-19. Many students had also demanded to postpone it. We will announce the next date of the exam soon," said Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray.

MPSC exam was scheduled for 11th October.

3,249 fresh COVID-19 cases reported in UP; infection tally at 4,30,666
 

The COVID-19 tally in Uttar Pradesh mounted to 4,30,666 on Friday as the state reported 3,249 fresh cases, officials said. The death toll due to the infection stands at 6,293, they said.
         

As many as 4,424 patients were discharged from hospitals on Friday, Additional Chief Secretary (Health) Amit Mohan Prasad said. The number of active cases in the state has now come down to 41,287, of which, 19,430 are in home isolation and 3,112 in private hospitals, he said.

Maharashtra Police reports 154 new COVID-19 cases, 2 deaths in last 24 hours

As many as 154 policemen tested positive for COVID-19 while two others succumbed to the virus in Maharashtra in the past 24 hours, informed the State Police.

A total of 259 policemen have died due to the COVID-19 infection in the state until today.  

The total positive cases of coronavirus have reached 24,735 while there are 2,394 active cases in the force.

Employees test COVID positive at Sree Padmanabha temple

Devotees will not be allowed in Sree Padmanabha swami temple till 15 of this month. 

The restrictions are due to the 12 employees includes the main priest tested COVID positive.

V Ratheesan, executive officer of the temple, said that the arrangements for daily donations will be done by essential staff. Earlier, COVID had infected several people, including security personnel.

Arunachal reports 212 new COVID-19 cases, one more death

At least 212 more people, including five security personnel, have tested positive for COVID-19 in Arunachal Pradesh, pushing the tally to 11,479, a health department official said here on Friday.

A 58-year-old man, who was diagnosed with the disease on September 29, died at a hospital in Chimpu, near here, on Thursday, taking the toll in the northeastern state to 22, State Surveillance Officer (SSO) Dr Lobsang Jampa said.

He had diabetes and suffered from acute respiratory distress syndrome, the SSO said.

Of the 212 fresh cases, 81 were reported from the Capital Complex region, 26 from West Siang, 21 from Tirap, 13 from East Siang, 12 from Lepa Rada, nine each from Lohit and Papumpare and eight each from Changlang and Upper Subansiri.

Jharkhand reports 784 new COVID-19 cases, 8 more fatalities

At least 784 more people have tested positive for COVID-19 in Jharkhand, which pushed the tally to 90,486, while eight fresh fatalities raised the toll to 775, a health department official said on Friday.

Five deaths were recorded in Ranchi, and one each in Palamu, Ramgarh and Bokaro, he said.

Of the 784 new cases, Ranchi accounted for 247 cases, followed by East Singhbhum at 233.

With spike of 70,496 cases, India's COVID-19 tally crosses 69-lakh mark  

With a spike of 70,496 new cases and 964 deaths reported in the last 24 hours, India's COVID-19 count reached 69,06,151 on Friday, as per the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW).

According to the MoHFW, this includes 8,93,592 active cases, 59,06,069 cured and discharged or migrated cases.

With the increase of 964 deaths, the toll due to the disease now stands at 1,06,490.

At least 223 more people tested positive for COVID-19 in Tripura on Friday, pushing the tally in the state to 27,982, a health department official said.

The COVID-19 death toll rose to 308 with seven more persons succumbing to the infection, he said.

West Tripura district, of which state capital Agartala is a part, has accounted for 166 of the 308 COVID-19 deaths, the official said.

Telangana logged 1,891 fresh COVID-19 cases, taking the tally to 2.08 lakh while seven more deaths pushed the toll to 1,208.

Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) accounted for the most number of cases with 285, followed by Medchal Malkajgiri 195 and Rangareddy 175 districts, a government bulletin said on Friday, providing data as of 8 PM on October 8.

The cumulative recovered cases stood at 1.80 lakh, while 21,801 are under treatment.

Seven more cases of COVID-19 in Mizoram, active tally at 220

Mizoram has reported seven new COVID-19 cases, taking the tally of people infected with the virus in the State to 2,157, said the State government on Friday. 

The total COVID-19 count includes 220 active cases and 1,937 discharges. Mizoram has not witnessed any COVID-19 fatality so far. 

Meanwhile, the Union Health Ministry and Family Welfare said,"New recoveries in the country have exceeded the new cases for 3 continuous weeks, unabated. The new cases during these 3 weeks have displayed a steady trend of decline."

17 new cases push case's tally of Andamans to 3,952

The COVID-19 caseload of Andaman and Nicobar Islands rose to 3,952 on Friday as 17 more people tested positive for the infection, a health official said.

One more person succumbed to the infection, pushing the COVID-19 death toll in the Union territory to 55, the official said.

Fifteen fresh infections were detected during contact tracing while two patients have travel history, he said.

Eleven more people have been cured of the disease, the official said.

The Union territory now has 190 active coronavirus cases, while 3,707 people have recovered from the disease and 55 patients have succumbed to the infection so far, he said.

The administration has so far sent 66,244 samples for COVID-19 tests, of which 66,094 reports have been received and 150 are awaited, the official added.

3,249 fresh COVID-19 cases reported in UP; infection tally at 4,30,666
 

The COVID-19 tally in Uttar Pradesh mounted to 4,30,666 on Friday as the state reported 3,249 fresh cases, officials said. The death toll due to the infection stands at 6,293, they said.
         

As many as 4,424 patients were discharged from hospitals on Friday, Additional Chief Secretary (Health) Amit Mohan Prasad said. The number of active cases in the state has now come down to 41,287, of which, 19,430 are in home isolation and 3,112 in private hospitals, he said.

Maharashtra Police reports 154 new COVID-19 cases, 2 deaths in last 24 hours

As many as 154 policemen tested positive for COVID-19 while two others succumbed to the virus in Maharashtra in the past 24 hours, informed the State Police.

A total of 259 policemen have died due to the COVID-19 infection in the state until today.  

The total positive cases of coronavirus have reached 24,735 while there are 2,394 active cases in the force.

Employees test COVID positive at Sree Padmanabha temple

Devotees will not be allowed in Sree Padmanabha swami temple till 15 of this month. 

The restrictions are due to the 12 employees includes the main priest tested COVID positive.

V Ratheesan, executive officer of the temple, said that the arrangements for daily donations will be done by essential staff. Earlier, COVID had infected several people, including security personnel.

Arunachal reports 212 new COVID-19 cases, one more death

At least 212 more people, including five security personnel, have tested positive for COVID-19 in Arunachal Pradesh, pushing the tally to 11,479, a health department official said here on Friday.

A 58-year-old man, who was diagnosed with the disease on September 29, died at a hospital in Chimpu, near here, on Thursday, taking the toll in the northeastern state to 22, State Surveillance Officer (SSO) Dr Lobsang Jampa said.

He had diabetes and suffered from acute respiratory distress syndrome, the SSO said.

Of the 212 fresh cases, 81 were reported from the Capital Complex region, 26 from West Siang, 21 from Tirap, 13 from East Siang, 12 from Lepa Rada, nine each from Lohit and Papumpare and eight each from Changlang and Upper Subansiri.

Jharkhand reports 784 new COVID-19 cases, 8 more fatalities

At least 784 more people have tested positive for COVID-19 in Jharkhand, which pushed the tally to 90,486, while eight fresh fatalities raised the toll to 775, a health department official said on Friday.

Five deaths were recorded in Ranchi, and one each in Palamu, Ramgarh and Bokaro, he said.

Of the 784 new cases, Ranchi accounted for 247 cases, followed by East Singhbhum at 233.

With spike of 70,496 cases, India's COVID-19 tally crosses 69-lakh mark  

With a spike of 70,496 new cases and 964 deaths reported in the last 24 hours, India's COVID-19 count reached 69,06,151 on Friday, as per the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW).

According to the MoHFW, this includes 8,93,592 active cases, 59,06,069 cured and discharged or migrated cases.

With the increase of 964 deaths, the toll due to the disease now stands at 1,06,490.

Tripura reports 223 new COVID-19 cases, 7 fatalities

At least 223 more people tested positive for COVID-19 in Tripura on Friday, pushing the tally in the state to 27,982, a health department official said.

The COVID-19 death toll rose to 308 with seven more persons succumbing to the infection, he said.

West Tripura district, of which state capital Agartala is a part, has accounted for 166 of the 308 COVID-19 deaths, the official said.

1,891 new cases, 7 more deaths in Telangana

Telangana logged 1,891 fresh COVID-19 cases, taking the tally to 2.08 lakh while seven more deaths pushed the toll to 1,208.

Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) accounted for the most number of cases with 285, followed by Medchal Malkajgiri 195 and Rangareddy 175 districts, a government bulletin said on Friday, providing data as of 8 PM on October 8.

The cumulative recovered cases stood at 1.80 lakh, while 21,801 are under treatment.

Seven more cases of COVID-19 in Mizoram, active tally at 220

Mizoram has reported seven new COVID-19 cases, taking the tally of people infected with the virus in the State to 2,157, said the State government on Friday. 

The total COVID-19 count includes 220 active cases and 1,937 discharges. Mizoram has not witnessed any COVID-19 fatality so far. 

Meanwhile, the Union Health Ministry and Family Welfare said,"New recoveries in the country have exceeded the new cases for 3 continuous weeks, unabated. The new cases during these 3 weeks have displayed a steady trend of decline."

COVID-19 LIVE: India's active case tally crosses 50-lakh mark

17 new cases push case's tally of Andamans to 3,952

The COVID-19 caseload of Andaman and Nicobar Islands rose to 3,952 on Friday as 17 more people tested positive for the infection, a health official said.

One more person succumbed to the infection, pushing the COVID-19 death toll in the Union territory to 55, the official said.

Fifteen fresh infections were detected during contact tracing while two patients have travel history, he said.

Eleven more people have been cured of the disease, the official said.

The Union territory now has 190 active coronavirus cases, while 3,707 people have recovered from the disease and 55 patients have succumbed to the infection so far, he said.

The administration has so far sent 66,244 samples for COVID-19 tests, of which 66,094 reports have been received and 150 are awaited, the official added.
