New Delhi: In a significant move, the central government has decided to export 'Made in India' ventilators after country's Covid19 fatality rate has witnessed a sharp decline.

Officials said that the Group of Ministers (GoM) on Covid19 has agreed to the proposal of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare Minister allowing the export of made in India ventilators.

Officials said that the decision has been communicated to the Director-General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) for required action to facilitate the export of indigenously manufactured ventilators.

The fatality rate in India at present is 2.15 per cent, indicating that fewer number of active cases are in ventilators. In mid-June, the case fatality rate was 3.33 per cent.

As on July 31, merely 0.22 per cent of the active cases were on ventilators. However, compared to January 2020, there are presently more than 20 domestic manufacturers for ventilators.

It may be mentioned here that the export prohibition on ventilators was earlier imposed in March to ensure domestic availability of ventilators to fight Covid-19.

Meanwhile, more than 36,500 patients have been recovered in the last 24 hours taking the total number to near about 11 lakh. The total recovery number at present is 10,94,374 at a rate of 64.53 per cent. The number of active cases at present is 56,5103.

As on date, India has 1488 dedicated COVID hospitals, 3231 dedicated COVID Health care centres and 10,755 COVID care centres.

The centre has also provided 273.85 lakh N95 masks, 121.5 lakh PPEs and 1083.77 lakh HCQ tablets to States, UTs and other central institutions.

Significantly, the national capital has also witnessed a remarkable improvement in its fight against Covid-19. Delhi's active COVID cases have come down to 10705 with a large number of recovery rate.

With a recovery number of 1206 people in the last 24 hours, Delhi's total recovery number reached to 120930. However, a significant 3963 people have also died till date with 27 more deaths reported from across Delhi in last 24 hours.

Experts said that joint efforts of central government along with Delhi government have brought a drastic change in the COVID control situation in the national capital.

"Ever since Home Minister Amit Shah intervened into the matter, almost all central facilities have been provided to the Delhi government in its fight against the pandemic," said Dr Giridhar Gyani, director general of Association of Health Care Providers India (AHCPI).

He said that a huge number of recovery cases are also a major reason that Delhi is doing better against this infectious disease.

It was on Monday, Delhi registered only 613 fresh COVID cases in a single day in the last two months. Thereafter from Tuesday the cases again started touching minimum 1000 cases.

In a related development, Delhi deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia has written to Home Minister Amit Shah requesting him for immediate directions to Lt Governor Anil Baijal to overturn his decision on hotels and weekly bazaars. The letter claims that LG's decision is against the Centre's Unlock 3.0 guidelines.

The letter said that hotels at places bordering Delhi such as Noida, Ghaziabad and Haryana are open.

COVID cases are decreasing in Delhi, so it would have been better if LG would have given permission to open hotels and market places.

Meanwhile, Minister of State for Home G Kishan Reddy told in Hyderabad that all states need to emulate "Delhi model" for controlling the spread of Coronavirus.
