Covid-19 fight: Reliance Industries set up first dedicated hospital in Mumbai

In a view to tackle rising coronavirus cases in Maharashtra, Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) has set up India's first COVID-19 dedicated hospital in Mumbai. The hospital is well-equipped with essential infrastructure, biomedical equipment and monitoring devices.

Mumbai(Maharashtra) : Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) has set up India's first COVID-19 dedicated hospital in Mumbai. This first of its kind in India centre is fully funded by Reliance Foundation and includes a negative pressure room that helps in preventing cross contamination and helps control infection. All beds are equipped with the required infrastructure, biomedical equipment such as ventilators, pacemakers, dialysis machines, and patient monitoring devices.

The HN Reliance Foundation Hospital has been set up in in collaboration with the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC). It has set up a dedicated 100 bedded COVID-19 centre at Mumbai where positive covid-19 patients can be effectively tested.

Well-equipped with all the medical facilities, Covid-19 hospital has also offered to provide medical facilities to quaranitne travellers and also to suspected patients. It has further decided that even if the services stop due to the pandemic ventilators they will continue to pay its contract and temporary workers.

Apart from this, RIL has declared that they will donate Rs 5 crore to Chief Minsiter's relief fund and are also stressed upon increasing its manufacturing capacity so that 100,000 masks can be produced in a day. It is also enhancing for production of large number of personal protective equipments for the nation's health workers to combat Covid-19.

Maharashtra has reported 107 positive cases of Covid-19 till now. The state has already witnessed three COVID-19-related deaths.

Seeing the rise in number of positive cases, Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on Sunday announced a 'near-total' lockdown of Maharashtra from midnight. Only bare essential services and retail outlets like vegetables, groceries, milk, pharmacies and others shall be functional. CM further urged the people to maintain social distancing and to stay indoors. (ANI REPORT)
