Covid-19 fight: Pregnant SDM Sumitra Pareek fights all odd, helps people in Rajasthan

SDM Sumitra Pareek, who is seven months pregnant is fighting against all odds to help people in her area in this hour of crisis. She has come up with various schemes to help people, giving special attention to pregnant women.

Pali (Rajasthan): At a time when the nation is reeling under the current coronavirus crisis, Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Sumitra Pareek of Rajasthan's Pali has set an example by helping people without worrying about her health. Pareek is fighting against all odds and is extending services to people in need.

Pareek, who is seven months pregnant, has opened a sub-division office in her house to address the grievances of the local people. Her work has been widely appreciated and people now call her 'Role Model'. Every day she spends at least 15 hours and listens to the complaints of the people, inspiring millions. A helpline number has been provided to people to tell their problems.

Apart from listening to people's problems, Sumitra Pareek has designed a few projects to ensure that no one faces any problem during this pandemic. Let's have a look at her projects which are designed to help the poor:

Police Friends: SDM Pareek has formed a team of four people with the help of Non-Governmental Organisations who help infected corona patients to reach the hospital. In case of people having mild symptoms, the team ensures that the patient follows the protocol of home quarantine. The team 'Police Friends' has a particular dress code.

Women's Quarantine Center: In view of the problems faced by the women, Pareek has opened a separate Quarantine Centre for women. To ensure full-fledged security, guards have been appointed too.

Akshay Annapurna Fund: The subdivision officer established Akshay Annapurna Fund in collaboration with 103 grocery and 51 medical shops in her own area. Five teams have been deployed and people can also voluntarily contribute to Akshay Annapurna Fund. At least ten thousand packets have been distributed till date with the

Special attention to pregnant women: A list of around 360 pregnant women, who are expecting their deliveries by December, have been prepared by SDM to make sure that they receive special care and attention. A team has been made to provide vehicles to these women, in case they need medical attention.

Mera Gaon Mera Naka: In an attempt to contain the spread of the virus, Sumitra Pareek planned a unique idea to prevent people from other villages entering Pali. Barricades have been put up to prevent people's movement. If people from other villages come to Pali, the district administration is immediately informed.

Not only this, various other steps such as including institutional quarantine, comprehensive sampling, better monitoring system, encouraging personnel have also been taken by SDM to fight against corona. The state government has lauded her efforts and is considering her innovations to be implemented as role models.
