During the telephonic interview with Dr Jayanti Dutta, a renowned clinical psychologist cautioned about the danger of Corona and also suggested ways and means to tackle Mental Dynamics associated with Corona Pandemic.
First of all Dr. Dutta is reminding us of certain dangers of Corona, which we should be careful such as :-
- Exact symptoms are not clear.
- Manifestation changes
- Earlier it was said that children are not involved. However, there is enough data world over to show that children are badly affected.
Dr Jayanti Dutta further says, ”Corona is an enemy which we do not know, we cannot see and we have no idea from where will it attack. Therefore, it is dangerous and very dangerous as it has become asymptomatic.”
She further reminded that another specific fatal thing about Corona is that it does not attack you alone, it will affect your loved ones and a lot of other people around you. So be careful. Moreover, there is no guaranteed medication or cure.
Dr Jayanti Dutta very strongly said,”Patients of Corona become walkie talkie bombs for not only themselves but for the whole lot of others in the family and in the neighborhood.”
This is one disease where even when one is dead, your dear ones are not allowed near you. A respectable cremation is not allowed, your dear ones cannot touch the body or bid you a proper good by.
All this leads to intensifying your anxiety, your phobia and it destroys your sleep and peace of mind. Not only this, it increases blood glucose levels, it enhances cardio-vascular problems, effects Blood Pressure and ultimately jeopardizes the immune system of your body. Thereby, makes you vulnerable for any kind of infection or viral attack.
What to do?
Even if you ignore your own safety, the disease will take the whole family along. So do not forget to follow all the prescribed precautions such as; to wear masks, to wash hands, to stay home etc.
Follow these points for your and your families safety :-
- Whenever you are at home, follow a routine not only for yourself alone but for your loved ones as well. Try to maintain this routine.
- Do meditation
- Do Yoga; Practice 'Pranayams' such as 'Anulom Vilom', 'Bhramri', 'Kapalabhati', to name a few. One should also practice 'asanas' like 'Bhujang Asana', 'Surya Namaskar', 'Setu Bandha', 'Pawan Mukt Asan'.. We must try to practice these at home. These helps in strengthening your breathing system and internal organs.
- Stop all negative thoughts. OMG, I am not able to go out. OMG, I am unable to meet people, OMG, I have not met my friends for such a long time, and thoughts like these may appear to be innocent but they ignite all your negative process in the cognitive zone of your brain.
- Enhance /Inculcate positivity.
- Go down the memory lane and think of all good things you have experienced. Share it with your family members. It will be better, if you make a common forum where all family members are there.
- Simultaneously, encourage children to narrate the things they want to share and they are fond of. Do not snap at them. Listen to them properly. This is very encouraging.
- Indulge with your children in various group activities but remember always inside the house.
- Encourage experimenting with newer recipes.
- Music is also known to create positive vibrations and strengthen your immune system. So to have music is a good thing. Play music of everyone’s choice. As a result, you will get variety and a sense of satisfaction will prevail among the family members.
- Experiment and invent newer indoor games like cards, chess, ludo,, carom etc. Apart from these games, playing 'Antakshari' is also fun.
- Assign supervisory role to your younger children and allow them to monitor the adult members with the responsibility of being vigilant about all the family members whether they are washing their hands at a regular interval and adhering to the prescribed norms.
- Form a WhatsApp group. Chat with your friends regularly. However please note do not talk about Corona.
