Congress raises doubt on probe in DSP Davinder Singh case, hits out at NIA chief

Hitting out at NIA's chief, Congress party raised doubts over the fairness of the National Investigation Agency probe in the matter of Jammu and Kashmir police officer who has got arrested recently with two alleged militants in a car. Congress party also demanded to set up a fast track court to probe into the matter.

New Delhi: Congress party today raised doubts over the fairness of the National Investigation Agency probe in the matter of Jammu and Kashmir police officer who has got arrested recently with two alleged militants in a car.

Hitting out at NIA's chief, the party said that NIA's own role in under suspicion" due to YC Modi, the Head of NIA.

While addressing the media, Congress spokesperson Supriya Shrinate said, "YC Modi, the head of NIA, is the same person of Assam Meghalaya cadre who had probed the Haren Pandya murder case, who had probed the Gujarat riots. The NIA's own role in under suspicion. It is on the radar as far as Pragya Thakur and Swami Aseemanand is concerned. It is incumbent on the part of the Government to come forward and to clarify the role of DSP Davinder Singh and to ensure that any probe is above board."

"There can be no room for suspicion, as far as Davinder Singh and his conduct is concerned. Any room for doubt is paving the way for Indians to be worried about the national security and to raise larger questions regarding Pulwama as well as Parliament attack," she further added.

Congress party also demanded to set up a fast track court to probe into the matter. "Congress demands that Fast Track Court needs to look into the entire web of his activities at all his links at any patronage that he has had anywhere because an officer from within the system is now caught with terrorists and the nation seems to be rather worried," Supriya Shrinate asserted.

Congress former President Rahul Gandhi hits out at NIA Chief in his statement, quoting, "The best way to silence terrorist DSP Davinder, is to hand the case to the NIA. The NIA is headed by another Modi- YK, who investigated the Gujarat Riots & Haren Pandya's assassination. In YK's care, the case is as good as dead."

He also questioned the silence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah over the matter and demanded a trial in a fast track court within 6 months.
