New Delhi: Congress leader Rashid Alvi on Tuesday lashed out at the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government over the violence in northeast parts of Delhi resulting in death of seven people, including a head constable of Delhi Police.
Speaking to ETV Bharat, Rashid Alvi said, "Government leaders say that there are some people who are behind this violence but they are not able to find them. It is the intelligence failure and the government is responsible for all this."
The Congress leader also questioned that how can the government be so incompetent? "These riots happened in the national capital at a time when US President Donald Trump is on a visit to India and the intelligence have no information about such planned attacks."
The Congress leader further alleged that RSS and BJP workers are responsible for whatever happened in Jafrabad and other northeast parts of India. Meanwhile, fresh incidents of stone-pelting were reported in Brahmpuri and Maujpur on Tuesday morning.
After meeting with Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal, Lt Governor Anil Baijal, Police Commissioner Amulya Patnaik and leaders from Congress and BJP, Union Home Minister Amit Shah has appealed for peace and said rumours should be stopped.
Sources in the Home Ministry have told ETV Bharat that a peace committee will be formed and It will work with political parties and Delhi Police for better coordination.
