New Delhi: Reacting to Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman remarks that no terror attacks, except the recent Pulwama incident, had occurred during the NDA regime, Senior Congress Leader Manish Tewari chose to remind the former about Gurdaspur and Pathankot terror attacks via Twitter.

Sitharaman, during an interactive event with Bengaluru-based Thinkers Forum, downplayed the opposition's allegations and urged them to issue statements building upon facts.

“All facts checked, it is true that between 2014 and today vis-a-vis 2004 and 2013, except for Kashmir, has there been any terrorist or minor bomb attack anywhere else in the country? Let’s talk on facts,” Sitharaman said.

In response, Tewari tweeted: "It seems @nsitharaman is stressed defending the indefensible -la -affaire- Rafale that she forgot Gurdaspur & Pathankot Terror attacks to name just two. Pathankot where NDA/BJP invited ISI to investigate. FYI -Gurdaspur & Pathankot are in Punjab & Punjab’s is in India ladyship!!! (sic)."

While Sitharaman or BJP was yet to respond to the Congress party's quip, the Defence Minister during her interaction, termed Pakistan as the 'fountainhead of terrorism not just against India but many parts of the globe'.

"Pakistan feels very much under stress since it had been economically isolated by the world community. More can be done on this front,” she said, asserting that anger, emotions and disappointments of Pulwama terror attack were well observed by the government and Prime Minister.

Attacking Congress President Rahul Gandhi over the Rafale deal, Sitharaman said that during 10 years of UPA rule, not even a single aircraft was added to the Air Force, and claimed that during Prime Minister Modi’s tenure, a due process was followed and all the details were given to the Supreme Court and Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) regarding the Rafale deal.

“September 19 your first Rafale is coming into this country,” said the defence minister.
