New Delhi: A day after the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) placed restrictions on Yes Bank, Congress party attacked the Center saying that it has broken the back of Indian economy as all the Cabinet ministers are totally 'clueless' about the real issues of the country.
"There is a difference between a doctor and a quack. See the economy during the tenure of Dr Manmohan Singh as Prime Minister and see how it is now. Why there is so much financial mismanagement? What was the RBI representative on the board of Yes Bank doing so far?" said Congress spokesperson Pawan Khera, on Friday.
"Economic emergency is everywhere. It has been on since the demonetization decision was taken by the government in 2016. There is no sense of questioning Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman over the current bank crisis. This is the first, and I hope the last, Cabinet which is full of clueless ministers," he further added.
While quoting a report, Congress party claimed that the bank frauds during 2015-16 were worth ₹18,699 crores, in 2016-17 they went up to ₹23,933 crores, ₹41,167 crore in 2017-18, ₹71,500 crores in 2018-19 and it reached ₹1,43,068 crores in the year 2019-20.
"We want to ask the Prime Minister and Finance Minister of the nation, who is getting this money and who is letting others get this money?" said Pawan Khera.
He also accused the Center by saying, "Modi government has waived off debts of ₹7,77,800 crores in the last 6 years. Gross banking NPAs are ₹9,10,800 crores. A few months back, we saw PMC bank crisis, IL&FS also had to bear the burnt of financial irregularities. Along with them, LIC and ONGC also had to face the crisis. Why PM Modi is betraying the common man who had elected him twice."
