New Delhi: With Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury saying that the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh's (RSS) - the ideological parent of ruling Bharatiya Janta Party - response would have been different if Jammu and Kashmir police officer Davinder Singh was a Muslim, Shiromani Akali Dal said that Congress has always been against the Sikh community.

"This is a very serious issue. This proves that Congress has always been against the Sikh community, which is why they raised this issue, " said Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal) Delhi chief Harmeet Singh Kalka while referring to Chowdhury's tweets on the issue.

"Someone who betrays the country has no religion, it doesn't matter if the person is Hindu, Sikh or Muslim. The government should take action against anybody who commits a crime. I don't understand the point behind connecting the issue to 'Khan' and 'Singh' (religious identity), " added Kalka.

In a series of tweets, Adhir Ranjan has said "enemies of the country" should not be spared, irrespective of their social background.

"Had Davindar Singh by default been Davindar Khan, the reaction of troll regiment of RSS would have been more strident and vociferous. Enemies of our country ought to be condemned irrespective of Colour, Creed, and Religion," the Congress leader has said.
