'Class of happiness' in Delhi govt schools attracts Melania Trump

US first lady Melania Trump is expected to witness 'class of happiness' in a Delhi government school as come she comes to the national capital city along with her husband Donald Trump on their second leg of India visit, beginning Monday.

New Delhi: The on-going programme "class of happiness" in Delhi Government schools, which aims to train young minds to have a positive attitude in life, has attracted the attention of US first lady Melania Trump, who would accompany her husband Donald Trump for his two-day India visit, beginning Monday.

Melania Trump is expected to visit one of the schools to witness the class of happiness.

The ETV Bharat visited one such school, where the class of happiness is part of the curriculum, and interacted with the principal, the teachers and the students to understand how it works.

The Arvind Kejriwal government in the city had started the concept of the class of happiness in the year of 2018 with an aim to de-stress students and teachers and make learning interesting for the children.

The Principal said the programme is open to students from nursery to class eighth, where the students basically learn how to keep their minds peaceful and focused. They are told stories with positive messages that directly touch their lives and help them become individuals with calm and constructive minds.
A teacher, sharing her experience of the happiness class, said children are now more focused and utilize their time in a more constructive manner."We try and build a positive attitude in students. This could be either be done by telling stories that are happy in nature and inspiring," she said, adding that one of her students once tried the same method on her father at home as he used to be tensed most the of the times.

"It's an innovative programme which has been very successful in building a positive approach among students," she said.

Similarly, students also echoed the same sentiments. One of the students told ETV Bharat that she used to an angry girl earlier but ever since the class of happiness was introduced, she has become a more balanced person.

"I used to get angry very easily earlier but things have changed for me now," she said.

Other students, who shared their experience of attending the class of happiness expressed identical views about the innovative idea of Delhi Government.
