New Delhi: To clear the air over reservation controversy, the BJP reiterated on Saturday that the party and the government, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, are committed to reservation, saying "it is an arrangement for social justice".
"Prime Minister Narendra Modi, our party (BJP) and its president J P Nadda see reservation through the glasses of Dr B R Ambedkar and we are committed to it," BJP national spokesperson Vijay Sonkar Shastri said in a video, posted on Twitter.
'It (reservation) is an arrangement of social justice and the BJP believes in social justice and that's why it supports it." he underlined, trying to set aside the controversy over the issue which was generated by the central government opposing not to grant 50 percent reservation to OBCs as per Tamil Nadu's law on medical seats surrendered by the state in the All India Quota for under graduate, post graduate and dental courses in 2020-21.
Supporting Ambedkar's idea, the BJP leader said that the great social reformer believed that reservation was not an issue of ability or inability but of social justice and social representation.

"That's why reservation is to be seen with social justice and representation and not with ability or inability," the BJP leader said.
On Friday, BJP president J P Nadda asserted that his party and the central government were committed to reservation. He said some people were trying to create confusion in the society over reservation.
It all started with the Supreme Court observing that quota is not a fundamental right, a remark which came in response to various political parties challenging the Centre's decision to oppose 50 percent reservation to OBCs as per Tamil Nadu's law on medical seats.
The All India Quota seats are contributed by states surrendering seats in the government and private medical and dental colleges as per the MCI regulations.
