New Delhi: With just 23 days to go for the Jharkhand Assembly polls, a meeting of the Congress Election Committee (CEC) was held on Saturday at the residence of interim party President Sonia Gandhi to discuss the names of the candidates.
In this meeting, Jharkhand Congress in-charge RPN Singh, state president Rameshwar Oraon, legislative party leader Alamgir Alam and co-in-charge Mainul Haque were also present.
After the meeting, Jharkhand Congress in-charge RPN Singh said, "Congress has to contest on 31 seats in Jharkhand and the names of those 31 candidates have been decided in the meeting. Congress will contest on 6 seats in the first phase and the first list of the candidates will be released soon."
Whereas, BJP led-Mahagathbandhan is reportedly yet to reach an agreement on seat-sharing.
All Jharkhand Students Union (AJSU) party is reportedly demanding 15 seats from BJP, while the Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) is demanding 6 seats.
RPN Singh took a jibe on the BJP-led Mahagathbandhan and said the saffron party has no idea to whom it is allied and to whom it is not.
He also said that Congress will give a chance to all the youth, senior leaders, and women.
