TMC complains to EC against PM's Kedarnath visit; termed it as MCC violation

New Delhi: Trinamool Congress on Sunday alleged that PM Modi's Kedarnath visit is a violation of election's Model Code of Conduct. AITC leader Derek O Brien sent a letter to the Election Commission of India calling for immediate action.

In the complaint, Derek wrote that "Narendra Modi's Kedarnath Yatra is being covered and widely televised for the last two days in all national as well as local media. This is a gross violation of the Model Code of Conduct."

Modi addressed public and media and discussed the Master Plan for the Kedarnath Temple. Quoting this Derek accused Modi of having an "ulterior motive to influence voters directly/indirectly. 'Modi Modi' chants are also being heard from the background."

While slamming Election Commission, he expressed his disappointment that "the Election Commission, the highest body and the eyes and ears of
the democratic process remains blind and deaf to the gross violation of the MCC."
