Ranchi: Jharkhand BJP on Saturday sought the resignation of Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren in an alleged rape complaint filed against him in Mumbai in 2013. The party has also sought a Central Bureau Investigation (CBI) probe into the entire case.

Former Jharkhand Chief Minister Babulal Marandi told ETV Bharat, " Chief Minister Hemant Soren should resign on moral grounds. We have also recommended a CBI probe. A complaint was filed at the Bandra police station in which Hemant Soren was accused of rape charges. It is a serious charge."

Meanwhile, a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) has been filed in Jharkhand High Court alleging that a conspiracy is going on to destabilise the democratically elected Hemant Soren government. The PIL has named BJP MP Nishikant Dubey, BJP state president Deepak Prakash, former Chief Minister Raghuvar Das and others as defendants in the case. It has been stated in the Public Interest Litigation (PIL) that the charges being levelled against Hemant Soren are of the year 2013 and a conspiracy is being hatched to demolish the government by making the alleged case an issue after seven years.

The National Commission for Women has sought a detailed action taken report (ACT) from Maharashtra DGP, demanding full details of the action taken so far.

NCW tweeted,“It has come across a media report regarding a Mumbai-based model who alleged that she was not only raped by Hemant Soren and Suresh Nagre in 2013 but she and her family were also constantly threatened against speaking about the alleged incident in public.”

On September 5, 2013, a Mumbai-based model accused Chief Minister Hemant Soren and another man Suresh Nagre of raping her. The case was reportedly withdrawn by the complainant within days of its filing.

About a month ago, BJP MP from Godda Nishikant Dubey levelled allegations against Hemant Soren stating that he can get the victim killed.

Soren had filed a defamation suit against Nishikant Dubey in the Ranchi Civil Court. On December 15, the court issued notices to the defendant Nishikant Dubey, Facebook and Twitter, and ordered the filing of reply. The next hearing of this case will be held on December 21.

Meanwhile, a campaign has also started on social media and people started asking the Mumbai Police to provide protection to the victim.
