Delhi: Launching a scathing attack against Congress President Rahul Gandhi, BJP Spokesperson GVL Narasimha Rao Saturday asked him to come clean on his alleged British citizenship and educational qualification after Ram Manohar Mishra, the returning officer in Amethi, postponed the scrutiny of his nomination papers to April 22.
The examination was deferred after Dhruv Lal, an independent candidate, raised objections against the details furnished by Rahul Gandhi in his nomination papers.
“Rahul Gandhi's legal representative doesn't have answers to questions raised by other candidates on details given in his nomination. They have asked time to counter the allegations. I think it's a matter of great surprise that the objections that have been raised regarding Rahul Gandhi's citizenship haven't been answered, " said BJP Spokesperson GVL Narasimha Rao in a presser.
"Rahul Gandhi's name has been shown to be listed as a British citizen in documents related to a company in the UK. Was Rahul Gandhi a British citizen?” asked Rao.
Further taking a jibe at Gandhi, the BJP spokesperson said there are "discrepancies and attempts to suppress facts" in Gandhi's affidavits filed during different elections from 2004 to 2014.

"He (Rahul Gandhi) in his affidavit mentioned obtaining an MPhil in Development Economics from Cambridge University in 1995. By 2009, he mentioned obtaining a Bachelor of Arts degree from Florida in 1994. For a regular student, it takes three years to complete Bachelor's, but Rahul Gandhi seems to be a super student who completed both his Bachelor's and MPhil in a year's time," said Rao.
Rao further attacked Gandhi by pointing out, "In 2009 the MPhil was mentioned as one in Development Economics, but by 2014 it became Development studies instead of Development economics."
Amethi, a traditional bastion of the Gandhi family, will go to polls on May 6. Counting of votes will take place on May 23.
