As many as five persons including two foreigners were arrested in Bengaluru for running a fake web site and duping many people by promoting attractive advertisements on web sites. They were advertising and selling kidneys in the name of the city's prestigious hospital.

Bengaluru (Karnataka): The Banaswadi police in Bengaluru have detained six persons including two foreigners on Saturday for allegedly running a fake web site and duping many people by promoting attractive advertisements on web sites.

The accused persons have been identified as Eisen Lovely of Nigeria, Mohammed Ahmed Ismail of Sudan, Hirendra, Kimi Ranjan and Jatin Kumar of Tripura.

According to police sources, the accused persons were involved in the illegal work by making a fake website and robbed millions of rupees by promoting attractive fake advertisements in it.

"Using the fake website and e-mail, they were advertising and selling kidneys in the name of the capital's prestigious hospital. The Banaswadi police have managed to capture a gang of six persons in this connection," an official said.

On the December 30th last year, Dr Shafiq, the director of the Specialist hospital at HBR Layout, had filed a complaint at the station alleging that a person named Chandru was misbehaving in the name of the hospital by selling a kidney.

Acting on the plaint, police have arrested three accused in Tripura. When the accused were interrogated, they confessed to committing the crime through the fake web site, WhatsApp messages and e-mail. In accordance with the information from the three accused, the other three persons were also arrested, sources said.

Police have seized some bank pass books, SIM cards, ATM cards, check books and mobile phones from the arrested persons' possesion. It is also obtained that the foreign accused were living illegally in India without any passport records, sources added.

A fake web site has been opened in the name of a doctor at the seshtalist Hospital. Opened email in the name  Dr.gokulakrishnan22@gmail.com . accused contacted more than 200 people. Ask for a fee of Rs. 50-60 thousand from each person for insurance. Similarly, the accused approached more than 300 people and defrauded them by crores of rupees.

 

Bank pass book, SIM card, ATM, check book, mobile phone were seized from the arrested. It is known that foreign accused lived illegally without passport records.
