PM Modi met Bangladeshi Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan on Thursday. The two met as a part of India's promise of supporting Bangladesh in its progress.

Bangladesh Home Minister meets PM Modi

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday reaffirmed India's commitment to partner Bangladesh in its progress.

He made these remarks when Bangladesh Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal called on him here. Kamal is here for the 7th Home Minister-level talks.

"The (Bangladesh) Home Minister noted the strong and growing relationship between the two countries and thanked India for its support, including in the areas of border management and infrastructure," the Prime Minister's Office said in a series of tweets.

The prime minister reaffirmed India's "abiding commitment to steadfastly partner Bangladesh in its rapid progress to prosperity", it said.

Modi noted that under Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Bangladesh has set an example of democracy and development not just for the region but the whole world.

Kamal also conveyed condolences on the demise of former external affairs minister Sushma Swaraj who passed away on Tuesday following cardiac arrest.
