New Delhi: The possibility of a verdict in the protracted Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid title dispute by mid-November brightened up on Wednesday with the Supreme Court fixing the deadline of October 18 for completion of arguments in the case.
The Ayodhya Bench in the Supreme Court is headed by Chief Justice of India (CJI) Ranjan Gogoi, who retires on November 17. If the judgment is not delivered before his retirement, the entire matter would have to be heard afresh.
Talking exclusively to ETV Bharat, President of Muslim Political Council of India (MPCI) Dr. Tasleem Ahmed Rehmani said, "I am not able to understand the reason for the connection of the retirement of CJI with the Ayodhya dispute case. If we want an unbiased verdict from the Supreme Court, then we should not bound the case with a certain time limit.
The 52-years old Rehmani further mentioned the recent controversy among the two parties which claims of having carved images of lions, birds, and flowers on the now-demolished structure at the disputed Ram Janmbhoomi-Babri mosque site.
"The Muslim party will counter this claim and probably the Hindu party also have some issues with the claim that we had made earlier, added Rahmani.
So, we must keep in mind that Justice Deepak Mishra is not the last CJI of the country. If he will retire from his post, someone else will handle this case.
