Indore: Former Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan, who has been conferred with Padma Bhushan award, in an exclusive interview with ETV Bharat, said that if you do your work with dedication and it is honoured, it gives immense happiness.
The Padma Bhushan is the third-highest civilian award in the Republic of India.
Mahajan, who also served as former MP from Indore, said that one has to do their work with the best of their ability and if it is rewarded, then it is a matter of great pride.

She said, "My family members and relatives have always supported me and today it has become possible because of them. I had never imagined that I would become the speaker of Lok Sabha. I am surprised over why I am being given the Padma Bhushan award. I have always worked to the best of my ability in all the roles and maybe that is the reason."
Many leaders across the political spectrum have extended their wishes to the 77-year-old veteran.
Sumitra Mahajan is an Indian politician who was the Speaker of Lok Sabha from 2014 to 2019 She belongs to Bharatiya Janata Party. She represented the Indore constituency of Madhya Pradesh from 1989 to 2019 as a longest-serving Woman Member of Parliament, and then retired from electoral politics
