New Delhi: The Supreme Court's order which says that Masjid was not constructed after the demolition of Ram temple itself establishes the fact that the land in Ayodhya belongs to the Muslims, said Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind President, Maulana Arshad Madani.
Jamiat filed a review petition in the Supreme Court on Monday challenging the Ayodhya verdict wherein the land was given to the Hindus and the government was directed to allot an alternate 5 acres of land elsewhere in Ayodhya to the Muslims.
Madani said that the observations made by the apex court are contrary to the verdict given by it. He said that according to the court people who kept the idols inside Babri Masjid and who demolished the mosque are the culprits.
Talking about the review petition, Madani said that it was the legal right of the party to file a review within 30 days. "It is a matter of religion and the mosque, therefore the working committee has decided that we will go where ever we can for our right," added Madani.
Also, when asked about his organisation and the Muslim Personal Law Board filed separate petitions, he said: "It is our duty to file a petition."
"The Muslim Law Board is not entitled to file any petition, it is a group of people fighting individually in this matter," he added.
He said that if the situation had to worsen because of the review, it could have worsened in the last 70 years. He said that they won't get down on the streets to solve the matter.
"If somebody snatches it from us then it's a different matter but giving our masjid on our own won't be right from a religious point of view," said Madani.
We had approached the Supreme Court because the High Court's order was based on faith and not on law. The Supreme court considered the law yet the order was contrary and not in our favour, concluded Madani.
