Shimla: After BJP emerged as the single largest party in District Development Council (DDC) elections in Jammu and Kashmir, the party's in-charge of polls Anurag Thakur said that people have shown support to the government's decision to abrogate articles 370 and 35A
Thakur was the chief of BJP Yuva Morcha and made a special team for the DDC polls to ensure that the party puts up a good show.
Thakur allocated the work among party workers and also highlighted the importance of the local elections which took place after seven decades. As a part of the election campaign, the BJP leader also told people about the Central government schemes.
Anurag Thakur, who is also Minister of State for Finance and Corporate Affairs, took feedback from party workers on a regular basis. The responsibility was given to him by BJP National President JP Nadda and the party won three seats in Kashmir.

Anurag Thakur said, “People participated extensively in the DDC election. Over 51% polling occurred which was very good compared to previous elections. Many parties in the Gupkar gang could not even challenge the BJP and Modi ji. BJP got 75 seats in Jammu and Kashmir which is the highest. The vote share of BJP is 38.74% and the total vote of the Gupkar gang is 32.96%. BJP got a total of 4,87,364 votes and the total votes of NC, PDP and Congress together is 4,77,000 which is much less than BJP's vote.”
"I want to thank the CEC for violence-free polls. The results have been very encouraging," the leader said.
Himachal Pradesh Jai Ram Ramesh also campaigned during the DDC polls as per Thakur's plan. The BJP fielded central ministers such as Jitendra Singh and Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi for campaigning in the eight-phase polls.
