AIMPLB busy preparing review petition in Ayodhya case

The All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) is to file review petition in the Supreme Court against it judgement in Ram Janmbhumi-Babri Masjid title case soon. The AIMPLB members met in the national capital to prepare draft of the proposed petition.

New Delhi: The All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) met here on Saturday and discussed the matter of filing a review plea against the Supreme Court's decision on the Ram Janmbhumi-Babri Masjid title case.

Speaking to reporters after the meeting, AIMPLB member Kamal Faruqui said draft of the proposed petition is being prepared and they would file it soon.

"We are working on it. Things are being prepared. Issues have been readied," he told reporters here. On being asked if the review plea would be filed by Monday next, he said it is not possible to file it by then as the final draft is to be discussed among the members. The Babri Masjid, which was destroyed in 1992, stood at a place considered by many Hindus to be a birthplace of the deity Ram. Destruction of the Masjid had led to nationwide riots that left more than 2,000 people dead. Earlier this month, the Supreme Court cleared the way for the construction of a temple on the disputed site.
