46,152 complaints of homebuyers resolved by RERA: Hardeep Singh Puri

Union Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs Hardeep Singh Puri on Friday said that as many as 46,152 complaints of homebuyers have been resolved till date by the Real Estate Regulatory Authority (RERA). Ever since its inception in 2017, 51,850 real estate projects and 40,481 real estate agents have registered under the real estate law, added Puri.

New Delhi: As many as 46,152 complaints of homebuyers have been resolved till date by the Real Estate Regulatory Authority (RERA), said Union Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs Hardeep Singh Puri on Friday.

“Ever since its inception 51,850 real estate projects and 40,481 real estate agents have registered under RERA across the country. 46,153 complaints have also been disposed of by RERA till date," said Hardeep Singh Puri.

Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Act, 2016 (RERA) came into effect on May 1, 2017. It aims at providing proper protection to homebuyers, with the states given powers by the law to notify their respective rules and appoint regulatory authorities such as the Real Estate Regulatory Authority.

"This historic legislation has set up a new era of safeguarding homebuyers interests. Now they cannot be duped by developers. It has also given dignity to the real estate profession by ensuring accountability and security. Truly, we are now in an era of RERA," said Puri.
