New Delhi: The Delhi High Court on Wednesday directed the state government to provide jobs to the families of those brutalised during the 1984 anti-Sikh riots.
Apparently, in the year 2006, the Union government had issued a notification regarding jobs to the kin of the victims in the 1984 carnage. However, no jobs were given to them.
Around 1,120 people had applied for these jobs, but to no avail.
The HC has, therefore, asked the state to list reasons behind the rejection to its applicants and at the same time, employ the ones who are eligible for the jobs as soon as possible.
The move came after Delhi Sikh Gurudwara Management Committee had filed a PIL at the Delhi high court after the state failed to implement its decision of providing jobs.
