Hyderabad: As the Supreme Court on Wednesday is all set to deliver its verdict in the decades-old politically sensitive Ayodhya title dispute, here is a look at the chronology of events in the Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid land dispute case.
Chronology of events:
- 1885: The Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid dispute reaches court for the first time as Mahant Raghubir Das files plea in Faizabad district court seeking permission to build a canopy outside the structure.
- December 23, 1949: Dispute escalates after idols are placed under the central dome.
- January 16, 1950: Gopal Singh Visharad files suit in Faizabad district court for rights to worship Ram Lalla.
- December 05, 1950: Mahant Paramhans Ramchandra Das files suit for continuation of worship.
- December 17, 1959: Nirmohi Akhara files suit seeking possession of the disputed site.
- December 18, 1961: Uttar Pradesh Sunni Central Waqf Board files suit claiming ownership of the site.
- July 01, 1989: Fifth suit filed in the name of Bhagwan Ram Lalla Virajman.
- April 2002: Three High Court Judges begin hearing on determining ownership of the site.
- September 30, 2010: In a historic judgment, the Lucknow Bench of the Allahabad High Court rules three-way division of disputed land between Ram Lalla, Sunni Waqf Board, and Nirmohi Akhara.
