Ayodhya (Uttar Pradesh): Mahant Paramhans Das, the successor of Tapasvi Chhawani in Ayodhya, who has been outspoken on Hindutva and other religious issues, has announced that he will take water burial October 2 if India is not declared a Hindu nation.
In the first phase of his entire programme, Mahant Paramhans worshipped a shroud (kafan pujan) amid Vedic chants and said that he would cover himself with the same shroud October 2 and take water burial in river Sarayu. He has also announced that if India is not declared a Hindu nation by October 2, he would organise a religious conference of seers October 1 and at noon October 2 he will take water burial in the Sarayu.

Talking to the media, Mahant Paramhans said that he has followed the tradition of seers.
“Whatever ritual is done after death, I have done it myself before death,” he said. “Through Vedic mantras, I have purified the shroud that I will cover myself with. Putting this shroud on myself, I will take water burial in Maa Sarayu October 2.”
The Ayodhya seer said that if the citizens of the country are to be protected, then India will have to be declared as a Hindu nation.
He said that he has demanded from Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Yogi Adityanath that in the interest of the people of the country and in the interest of social welfare, this country should be declared a Hindu nation.
“The way the minorities are increasing their population, very soon the majority society of this country will find itself weak in front of a particular class and law and order and the Constitution of the country will come under threat,” Mahant Paramhans said. “It is very important to declare this country as a Hindu nation so that such a situation does not come. If this does not happen, then I will take water burial October 2.”
